    Question Mk1 rs2000 prices?

A friend of mine has asked me to go take a look at a mk1 rs2000 next week, it was restored by a friend of his afew years ago and has been done well apparently as the owner worked in a bodyshop.
it has mot but was took off the road during the winter to sort afew jobs the owner wasn't too happy with. Now needs a pair of headlights, front door cards are abit rough and the wheels didn't get a refurb so let the car down. Apart from that it's all standard and as I say apparently restored well, original type 49 shell in Modena green with no stripes fitted.
The owner needs money so my mate is hoping to get a good deal.
i know it's hard to price without pics but what are people opinions on price?

    http://www.seoc.co.uk/priceguide.htm

all these prices look fair if you own one, but as always if your buying they look a tad un realistic

i always say you should work backwards from the price the car is worth or could be worth .

If a 100% concourse original show car is worth 16k 18k for rs2000 as above price guide ,which has had NOS parts chucked at it .

I would delete the cost of all the NOS parts your car will need ,on top of this the cost to put the shell engine etc etc back to 100% if its not already 100%

I would work the prices of work on paying some one to do it for you ,to help bring the price down even if you do it your self

Then there is the ohh is a real T49 DIY restored cars with massive amounts of work will never make top end prices even with a mint coat of paint

I think the cars that make top bucks are far a few between ,as these tend to have original panels and un molested shells .

Any way there is my two pennies worth make of it what you will

Make sure it's not the one that was for sale for ages over a year ago.

It was local to me and for sale for ages, it sold for about £7K in the end but was quite ruff with the sunroof welded up and covered over with a vynal roof to hide it.

A good one would have to be at £10K my brothers old minty avo show winning one (Rlj532m) was advertised for £23K recently but didnt sell that im aware of.

to be honest take a wad of cash and offer him whatever you feel like. a few years ago if you put up a mk1/mk2 for sale it would sell within matter of a few days, nowadays people are asking big money for the cars but, nothings sell at the moment unless its a give away IMO !

Savvi, it's def not the one your on about, the lad has had it for quite afew years. I think we'll get it for under £10k but my mate wants me to give it a good going over to make sure it's all genuine and nothing really expensive is missing. I've seen the owners bodywork skills on other cars and his attention to detail is really good so hopefully he's done a good job. I spoke to his father 2 years ago and he was telling me how much time his boy was spending in the garage getting the body all right.
Should be seeing it Monday or Tuesday evening.
