    Ex-Works Daihatsu Charade GTti

    FOR SALE

My original ex-works Daihatsu Charade GTti. I bought this car back in the nineties and since then it has undergone a complete nut and bolt rebuild and extensive modification in the process. I believe that the external door handles are the only parts on the car that have not been modified in one form or another!

This is a very very quick car that has been modified for sprinting, hillclimbing and trackdays. Due to its engine capacity it is eligible for the up to 1400cc modified production class for speed events and it is also suitable for the Nippon Challenge and many other tin top race championships.

The car has FIA homologation papers, an RACMSA logbook and an RACMSA certified rollcage.

The engine is freshly built and was assembled and modified by CTM Performance. This includes a full lighten and balance for all the components and gas flowing the head. This is the original works engine and before its rebuild it had covered less than 26000 miles.

The exhaust system, manifold and turbo 'crane' were fabricated by Hayward and Scott.

The turbo is a one of a kind, it was built by Turbo Technics to a specification from ProDrive. There is a Tial BOV fitted.

The throttle body and fuelling system are all from a YB cosworth engine.

All coolant and IC hoses are Samco.

The gearbox has Albins Group A gearset in it from Australia and a Gripper, plate type limited slip differential.

    The driveshafts are from Reco-Prop.

It has large AP 4 pot calipers on the front and OEM discs and calipers on the rear.

The car has a custom alloy radiator made by Serck and a Pace Products IC which is chilled by a DEI CryO2 chill kit.

The call is fully polybushed, including custon engine mounts.

The suspension is custom built Leda units which have bump and rebound adjustment. The top mounts are solid with pillow bearings.

The brake and fuel lines are all stainless steel braided and run through the cockpit. The fuel is pumped by a Walbro 255lph in tank unit and the tank has been baffled.

The car is fitted with a brand new Corbeau seat. I have a fabricated frame to take a passenger seat, although there is no second seat.

Car has a plumbed in Lifeline 2000 extinguisher system which is controlled electronically.

The dials are all VDO, Stack and SPA.

Momo steering wheel from a Noble.

    Willans harnesses x 2

The engine is controlled by a Moec M4 ECU which was live mapped by Adrian Smith of Fensport.

The car has perspex windows and a laminated windscreen.

All panels are steel, but have been extensively lightened, car weighs just under 700kg.

Astonishing power and acceleration from a well sorted car, guaranteed to make you smile and others with more expensive machinery whince!

Extensive paperwork history all the way back to original rally press releases, all invoices for parts or work undertaken, including suspension setup sheets and corner weights from Northampton Motorsport.

Car is SORN'd and could be road legal again if someone put the effort in to retro fit lights.

The car is in Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire, not road legal so no test drives unless you have facilities, in which case I can bring it to you!

Recently photographed professionally for a forthcoming Magazine feature.

Huge silverware collection demonstrating how quick and competitive this car is. Well known on the speed scene.

PRICE £8,000 open to sensible offers.

    Nice car

I remember in the mid 90's my brother pulling up next to a standard one of these at the light in his nova gte and it smoking us. I had no idea what is was at the time but always had respect for them from that day.

Thank you! I raced a Citroen AXGT for a couple of seasons with many wins, I got beaten by one of these, so I went and bought one!

When this was road legal it was great fun for traffic light grand Prix.

Its so quick it still makes far more impressive machinery look pedestrian!

Awesome car, awesome spec, would be a credit to anyone. I may be biased but nice to see one of these rare cars, especially an ex works car in such fine fettle. Anyone that's into racing could buy a car here that would be super competitive out the box! Good luck with the sale.

    Re: Ex-Works Daihatsu Charade GTti

No it's the sister car, driven by the Japanese driver....I did actually have two of these...one on the road and one as a spares car which Sabrina Shaw had rolled.

Almost tempted to buy it back but looks like there's not a lot left of the little beast...

Remember doing a night event in it,and on a video all you hear is the car and two very Welsh guys saying, say it in a welsh accent ''Bl**dy hell 6R4 !!'' priceless

    Re: Ex-Works Daihatsu Charade GTti

Hi Brynmor, car is in great shape, you would be astonished at how quick it is now. All the rally parts are on this car or other gtti within the uk.

Many parts were not suitable for sprinting and hillclimbing.

Its still the same engine (rebuilt), rollcage, gauges, extinguisher etc

Its a new close ratio box with an lsd, motec management, new turbo, leda suspension and a new seat

You should buy it back ;-)

How many works cars did them make for the U.K ? I remember that Scott Bradshaw had one on the Isle of Man in the early 90's.

That one Scott had used to be owned/rallied by Steve Graves and Grant Cleverley (G&C Motorsport in Ramsey). No idea what happened to it but there's a pic of it below doing the Hill Climb:

    Re: Ex-Works Daihatsu Charade GTti

Hiya, it's Grant Cleverley.... That thing was just the most incredible vehicle I've ever driven on slicks and on the limit.... It was a nightmare at anything less than slightly over the limit... Then he was alive

Also.... This car is G880 PKK.... Sorry to cause a debate, but I saw the only other works GTti in scrutineering for a rally and it had G880 PKK on it and it wasn't my car.... It was the other one...... The 3rd and only other got thrown off a cliff in Wales, one ended up in the diahatsu museum and I think that was that one with my plates, the ex Terry Kaby and ex Scott Bradshaw diahatsu.. And it had fully adjustable unique made for the factory spax all round.... Forest and tarmac choice... Went through clutches like fuck, 2nd selector gear went after 500 hard miles, and 3rd gear, driveshafts, and the back got light over 130ish.... Fucking loved it though and think about those times almost every day.... Steve Graves died a few years ago, I miss him more than that thing 🇮🇲🏴☠️💜

Hi, I know that this thread is 9 years old but . How did the sale go? & Do you know where the car is atm??
I'd be interested in buying it off the person you sold it to.

    Regards
    Ant
