How to selection a brake package?

Got to sort brakes for my project, have no clue where to start, is disc size more important than piston numbers?

Can you over spec the setup??

The spec so far is 650bhp and roughly 1250kg, 17" wheels

    Thanks in advance

Im no brake expert.. But if you look at what other 600hp+ production cars run.. from what ive seen a fair few run huge ceramic discs etc in huge wheels. Understandably this usually isnt an option for us mortals..

Id look at the usual AP, Alcon, Brembo etc and just try and fit the largest you can with the largest thickest rotor you can.

as far as i know, the 2 biggest factors with good brakes is disc diameter and pad surface area, the biggest out of them 2 you can get the better.
