Car going well Luke. I thought that little red car was going to take you out on the chicane.
Cheers mate. Yeah was a bit close with the c2, I thought he was letting me past but he must have just been going out for the line. You any further forward sorting yours after the motorkhana?
Yes I had it all straightened out and painted by 2 weeks later. Cost me nearly £300. The bush has gone in the rack so bought a bronze bush from motorsport tools on ebay. 3 weeks later and it still hasn't turned up. Bloody useless company. I stripped it off ready to fit the new one so had to borrow my brothers mx5 to do the last motorkhana. Came 3rd in class even though I didn't fit I it.
seems a lot running xes
Luke
Could you do me a favour
Do you have a picture of your belts around the harness bar and what angle they go to your seats
Hexham and District Motorclub
Yeah
You have just had yours log booked so was hoping I could get a similar cage but don't want to shell out for a new cage to find it fails scrutineering
Hexham and District Motorclub
Yours is Jon because the harness bar is high up
The cage I want has the harness bar at the bottom of the cross like lukes

Managed to get any pictures yet Luke?

Sorry, my mrs just had our baby and I've been so busy I completely forgot, I'll get it done as soon as.
Ahhhh don't worry about it congratulations with the new addition
Hope they are both doing well
Hexham and District Motorclub
Angle doesn't look to steep
It has to be within 20 degree of horizontal apparently
Hexham and District Motorclub
Someone was telling me that the ruling says it is recommended 20°. Not read the rules myself and we all now how reliable secondhand information is.
Anyone know any scrutineers?
Hexham and District Motorclub
Just done a little research, all the answers are here

As you said the recommendation is 20 degrees, mine looks more than that, but they will accept up to 45 degrees which would make mine ok.
Brilliant Luke
Cheers

I haven't bothered with the car for the last few months, theory being, if it ain't broke, leave it alone.
Sent of an entry to my first stage event today, hoping to get a run on the Jaffa Xmas stages at Pembrey.
Happy days, John has sent his off too, should be good fun. I've roped in Mark Clatworthy to sit in.
Yeah I'm glad Marc was up for it, he sat in on a road rally with me once but the car broke early on, hoping to go a bit further down pembrey. Are you doing it mike?
That would certainly be interesting mat.
Im sure you'll enjoy it Luke. Christmas stages was my first ever stage event 4 years ago now. We also have an entry in and will be looking to finish this one as I haven't managed to finish one Christmas/Jaffa Stages so far.
I'm really looking forward to it, hope you get to the end this year, see you there.
Well our entry has been accepted for the Xmas stages so I've made a start getting the car sorted. First up was some tinkering with the water temp compensation on the map, it now runs a lot better from cold.
Next up was to sort the play in the steering, end result was a new rack, ally rack mounts, new rod ends and a new heavy duty group 4 universal joint. I think the steering items were the only things left on the car I hadn't replaced or rebuilt since having the car, so well overdue.
Booked in Tuesday for suspension set up at Melvyn Evans Motorsport.
just read this thread from start to finish, great work luke
What a great car you've built there pal. And used and abused as they should be!
Thanks guys, it's been a learning curve.
Melvyn does a amazing job
And finally after the long Xmas build up it was time for the Jaffa stages. It was an eventful day but great fun. I normally drive the car to and from events, but I had the luxury off using my dads recovery truck which was nice.
My mate popped down the night before the event to put a few of his stickers on as well.
We were seeded at car 66, one car behind John (freddy68) who was also doing his first stage event. I entered the road rally class, which was the class with the biggest turn out, 16 cars, this meant we had to run road tyres to comply with the class rules.
Stage 1 was ok, made a bad tyre choice putting my wet tyres on which overheated very quickly and gave me a lot of understeer. Then we had some contact with a tyre chicane early on, but it didn't slow us down much and we set a decent time inside the top 30. The damage looked quite bad, but it is only cosmetic, the front panel should straighten and a wing to finish off.
Stage 2 was the worst stage of the day. I swapped tyres to Yokohama a021's on the front and the car felt a lot better, the stage was going very well. Then on the entrance to the 'go kart track' one of the previous cars had pulled out one of the tyres stopping people cutting the apex, I was already on opposite lock going through the fast 90 right and my inside front wheel just clipped they tyre and bent my steering arm. I stopped to check the car was still safe then continued slowly around the stage to the end where we got in just before the stage maximum time.
We had a busy service changing the steering arm and tracked the car very quickly by eye and just made it out for stage 3. After the max on stage 2 we knew any sort of result was gone so we just went out for some experience. Turn in didn't feel great but I had a go and we had a nice clean stage with no dramas.
Stage 4 was scrubbed due to a car fire.
Stage 5 was the final stage and we tracked the car a bit better and had more of a push. We had another nice clean stage with no issues or spins and set a time which was good enough for 17th over all which I was pleased about.
Over all it was a great day, the car has potential to be fast if I can keep things tidy. it was a shame to damage the car but it's nothing serious, and there's no point turning up unless your going to have a go

Stage 3
Stage 1
Looking good Luke. That wing seems to like the lorry tires on the motorkhana track.
Luke are you still on a 4.6 cwp ?
