sideways is the best way to turn a corner
It will be worth the work. I had genuine Superspeed back in late 70s. OLA111L. Love to know if its still around. It was electric blue with yellow stripes, capri bonnet bulge and 5 speed ZF. Loved it.
Bet you wish you still had it! How did it handle on the bends? I've decided to move the engine back a few inches just to be on the safe side.
Season greetings to all, hope you all got something car related for Christmas.
Hello people, im back.
Its been, let me say.... an eventfull few months, the missus and myself parted company and then i lost my step father to cancer. All this happened back in February and its took me a while to find the motivation i needed to get stuck in again. This project, this car, has always been a labour of love for me, but sometimes that labour of love becomes a little too obssesive and starts to rule your life. The wife (or soon too be ex wife), named this car Edna. So Edna it shall be. And the rest of this build will be a tribute to my step dad, Glyn Jones.
anyway, heres some pics of where im up too

O.k, you twisted my arm, ill put some more pics up. Ill be honest ive been a bit lazy recently, curling up on the sofa watching shite on the box instead of getting pics uploaded!!
where were we... oh yeah, back wheel arches:
20130928_142550.jpg20130928_142529.jpg
Had to chop the lower rear corner in two to get it to fit somewhere decent
20130928_142505.jpg20130928_142519.jpg
Finally all the back of the car is pretty much there!!
20130928_142604.jpg20131017_185003.jpg
Now onto the front of the car. You will see in the next few pics why i have done this!
20130929_134940.jpg20130929_134933.jpg
The inner wings and chassis rails on this car were feckin hangin! fortunatley i got a real good front end of the boys at escort tec.
20130929_175714.jpg
So, i started to clean up the bulkhead and see what i had to play with. I was hoping for a little less work on the bulkhead but... not a fookin chance!
20130929_180129.jpg
Had to make another hole!! delicately does it are the words im thinking.
20131006_141044.jpg
And after an afternoons work i got this far!
20131012_182046.jpg20131012_182114.jpg20131012_182122.jpg20131012_182135.jpg

20131103_140210.jpg20131103_140701.jpg
ive finished repairing the lower bulkhead and moved onto the chassis rails for now, try and tie it all in together. these floors and seat crossmembers are well past their best!
20131027_132610.jpg
not much left of this chassis rail. Ive got a couple of buckets of rust if anyone wants a cheap alternative to bark chippings or slate!!
20131027_132404.jpg
Chassis rails now on and fully welded. Ive plug welded them where they were originally spot welded.
20130810_172844.jpg20131029_204837.jpg20131103_140151.jpg

20131124_143232.jpg
20131125_054321.jpg
20131125_191218.jpg
The front floor pans needed extending a bit at the front where they meet the lower bulkhead

I was laughing at your Tin worm comments Paul.... You need to be less conservative I saw the extent of the corrosion on this car
and it was more like a Tin Great White Shark had taken a few rusty bites out of it... Id have given it up for dead after that attack
Amazing Tin Smithing!!
Very good work´s
well done fella, miraculous what you have done. keep it up you certainly will have a good one once complete.
JP
waiting on the next instalment of pics......
Did you get the Jag run about?
