Couple more bits done on the late shift repaired the near side lower rear screen pillar where the rear quarter was replaced before I got the car sometime in it's life, also repaired the boot rubber drip rail on that side that had disappeared
Ready for the rear skuttle to go on not too sure on the brazing bit as we have no gas pack !

i asked and you can braze with tig!!! ordered my tig/plasma cutter!!!! shhhh top secret!!!!
Oh I'm telling that's going cost you a shit load of handbags lol
Loving this thread......My escort is at the stage of blasting and now needs panels and plenty of time which is proving hard to come by!!
Still I should have a bit more in the new year hopefully!! I will be starting a build thread myself at some point but there are so many good pointers on this one I may not bother!!
New skuttle is in spot welded in a few more places than the existing one
Just waiting for some structural two pack to do the in-fill between the skuttle and the rear quarter
Next job new rear panel, replacement boot floor and new tank and wheel wells
Clarky205 make sure you buy a spit makes the job so much easier and Tim From TJM on can do some great deals on panels
Well we got the rear panel off tonight with a little incident that could have been fairly dramatic if it had made contact with me !!!
Whilst cutting the rear panel bumper plate off the 1 mm cutting disk decided that enough was enough and wanted to make a bid for freedom which ended up embedded in the new workshop roof lining opps "sorry Rob"
Also tonight we finished off twisting up the new loom that we have mad for a freind of ours that has a Rally Cossack replica Mk2 just need to get the heat shrink and DT conectors and finish it off nearly 300 metres of white thin wall used !!!
Back panel nearly ready to go on repaired the drip rail where the panel spot welds onto on the near side
The repair on the LHS (nearside for those taking driving tests who dont understand which side is which of a competition car ) looks very well done - did you have a professional to help you with that bit?
Sorry was a bit out on the measurements lol was a bit more
Back panel on just a couple of welds to do on the "off side" then start on the boot floor

great work.
Were getting there slowly 62 nights up the workshop so far average 4.5 hrs a night 279 hrs "eek" that would have cost me a fortune
Well we have nearly finished my mate Andys loom spent a couple of nights heat shrinking his new loom just need to get it pinned and plugged up on the car with DT conectors
Autosport International visit this week mmmm goodies
That will get expensive!!! I have just ordered all the panels I "think" I need to make a start on mine! Thanks for the advice to contact Tim, he was very helpful! Just need some time to get things underway now!!!
I will look into starting a build thread shortly!!
Well Autosport has been and gone this year and I went on the intention of buying a weld in roll cage and only purchased a pair of Aero catches !! Couldn't make my mind up on the custom cages stand also no Safety devices stand ? But on the other hand might have purchased some wheels, helmet and HANS device from a friend.
Well some has stolen my boot floor took a bit of work to get it out but most of it has up nicely and we have cut the lower sections out of the rear quarters for the new tank and spare wheel wells to go in
its coming all
sideways is the best way to turn a corner
Great work.
Thinking on replacing my loom.
Did you use the same gauge of wire throughout?
22, 18 and 16 awg if Raychem Spec 55 or 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5mm2 if thin wall. The loom in the pictures is thin wall which is much cheaper that Raychem.
Near side rear outer wheel well fitted tonight
Hux,
What are you doing for a boot floor? Mine needs TLC but I was thinking about making a new one to go in there?!
We got a secondhand one off Escort-tec and we are going to extend it to mate up with the new tank and wheel wells, also we have to raise the front of the boot floor to get a bit of extra lift on the axle
Outer rear tank well fitted seams strange to a rally mk2 to haves full tak and wheel wells
Boot floor next
We made a start on the boot floor tonight remade the sides that were missing from the donar floor we got just some trimming and a grind up then weld it all back in
tubs/turrets & paint next week!!!
Cracking on bud
No pics tonight just spent the time tonight bending and shaping the returns on the front edges of the boot floor for the tubs to go up to.
Just a bit more tidying to do on those then the inner tank and wheel well to be stitched on and get it all welded back in the the bit we ave not been looking forward to doing the Tubs and turrets
Nice work Paul.
Coming along nicely.
Near side boot floor wheel well now finished will need a bit of tarting up before painting, off side tank well is fitted but needs a grind off then it's ready to weld to the chassis rails, handy at he moment that we can lift the whole boot floor in and out
Boot floor now in and welded up to the inner and outer wells, just need to fit the raised atlas axle boot floor section, the next job is to start on the tubs and turrets, we will have a break from doing this as we have finish off and fit the wiring loom we made for our mate Andy's rally car and the workshop needs a bit of a spring clean !!!

Back on mine now the Cossack escort wiring finished
Boot floor and wells done and seam welded to the chassis rail, now to the job we keep putting off "Tubs and Turrets"
Also measured up for the tractive gearbox we might have to mod the new tunnel but we won't know until the engine is fitted
Get it dummy built so you can start as soon as turrets n tubs done
Starting to come together, lucky boy that the cutting disc didnt end up embedded in anything else....
Good! Will be finished by the time I get back!!!!
