help needed with chassis rail repair

    Hello all,

over the last few months ive been repairing one side of the engine bay im my mk1 escort and im a bit stuck, some muppet has welded in the antiroll bar bracket along with one of the bolts, i have linished it back and thumped it a few times with a punch but its well and truely stuck so im gonna have to cut it out and weld in a new tube

i have found this on ebay which seems to fit the bill but can anybody tell me if its the right diameter to hold an ARB bolt

(my car is kept miles away and i diddnt measure before comming home)

thats 20mm od 3mm wall so 20-6 = 14mm id which i believe is too big. from memory the bolts are 10mm on late mk1 so i would look for 10mm id and either 14 or 16 od.

or are they 12mm so you want 12mm id and 16 or 18 od

    im sure someone will confirm

ta mate, at a guess i was thinking the original tube was in the region of something like 12mm
