driving a four door never bothered Callum Duffy coming fourth on the tour of mull in the early 90's . Have you built or driven a two door and a four door escort?

well as pic show ,, yes you can ? although they are not allowed in road rallys so i fail to see your point ?
i will forgive your lack of understanding due to your age
but to explain
when beecroft was winning the MN events escorts were rather common, we all had them and there were more written off every sat night in the lanes than are left now
they used 2 doors as they look nicer, they are the sporty ones you see
now of course they are getting rarer / read MORE EXPENSIVE so you are correct in your statement that 4 doors are used to contain cost is that wrong ?
enjoy the cars, its not so common these days down this way.
I'd say about 20-30K depending on spec for a pretty basic one. As others have said, its all the bits and pieces that add up (seats, harnesses, rally computer, piping, wiring etc etc). Also, not changing your mind really helps, I went crossflow and then less than a year later realized that it was not really going to do what I wanted it to and have now gone down the duratec route. As for the more door thing, can't say I notice the extra doors behind me when I'm flying round the corners, although I do like them when it comes to packing up time at the end of the day (extra room for stuff).
While we would all prefer a two door the next best thing is a four door, and I was actually there to see the four door go

i cannot understand why anyone would prepare a top car for motorsport and fit arches to it that would mean the doors can't be opened, imagine a serious accident and you can't open the front doors and the rears are held shut with a pop rivit alloy tarmac arch ???? and i really do not think a 4dr is as strong as a 2dr if your building it by the old book charlie reynolds wrote, he never extolled the virtues of a 4dr in it did he ?
Are you competing or have ever competed in a escort?
i would never own a horse or try to swim the channel for that matter.
your right, i think its amazing that 2 door cars are allowed to compete at all - ban them i say
what i am trying to highlight here is that people might draw the conclusion that your posts are irrelevant to this thread and seem entirely aimed at causing argument. ?
or am i missing your point ?
the point is or was lost when people started harping on about the more door cheap escort shells , now its getting tedious explaining but obviously if you have a car fitted with closures that can't be opened or closed its not ideal.
the point is yes you can fit tarmac or forest even zakspeed arches to a 4dr but it doesn't make it right does it.
