Popular thread this one Paul. Could do with more photos of the car though if you ask me!
Onyd did you run a electric water pump on your S2000 engines ?
Oh bell housing material arrived this week also :-)
I would rather be shagging me tyres........
No, but in auto-cross several engines where running like this. About 15 years ago John Cross form autocross had his turbo charged Fiesta (Cosworth powered) build-up from normal pump to electric. Something went wrong with the pump and the engine melded in seconds. Since than I'm scared using electric water pumps. My engines where mainly turbo's, can't stand cooking water. Maybe on an atmo engine using electronics you still got time to have the ECU warning you and backing off the engine's power. For turbo's I think you come to late in 5 seconds. Had it with a snapped belt. 300 meters and oval cylinders and lots of smoke.
But you do save a lot of weight on and S2000 removing the water pump and all what is attached to it. Makes is less complex.
Thanks .. Talking of weight I have been surprised how heavy the engine feels although I have not put it on the scales yet ... Do you have any other ideas to take weight out of the engine ?
I would rather be shagging me tyres........
I can measure the weight if I get the load cell from my friend and hang it on the engine crane. Still have one complete engine. I do know they are very heavy for and all alloy block. I guess, like a Pinto.
No, not much, you can't leave the head of or take the crank out. With the exception of the water pump, servo pump and a lighter alternator not much you can leave at home. It's just a heavy engine. Not like Rover K serie or Ford Duratec.
Much as is thought then !
Thanks

anyone got an old paddle shift set up under a bench they don't want ?
I would rather be shagging me tyres........
Come on Paul, we need more updates
Hi Paul ,
It's fast becoming the "Paul" thread this one !
Excuse number 1 is I have not been very well for the last week or so and now alcohol has taken over for the next week or so :-)
I have been buying stuff tho like a controller for the power steering a paddle for the gearshift system and a Davies Craig electric water pump!
Feel free to pop and have a look first hand if your passing at any point !
At bloody work this morning grrrr
I would rather be shagging me tyres........
Subscribed to this thread, very interesting, always loved darrians, some more pics would be nice
Welcome Lee
Did a little bit of cleaning today ... Hope to do a bit of glass fibre work tomorrow .... I will take an uninteresti mg picture for you :-)
I would rather be shagging me tyres........
Oops or even Luke sorry
I would rather be shagging me tyres........
Cracking on Paul. Steve O'leary came second today at Longmoor in his S2000 T9 (?) and he wasnt far off of 1st. So that should spur you on!
But he was beaten by a white MK2 with a 2.0 XE - so thats spurred me on!

Yes saw that I have been chatting with Steve a bit over last couple of weeks hope to go down and have a close look at his car soon.
We have had a good day at it today TBF plenty of work to be getting on with !
Fibreglass work next all new to me so should be interesting.
Mr Edwards has always been quick in the wet.
I would rather be shagging me tyres........
Waiting on bits for fibreglass so pulled brakes off all round to find the rear discs are fucked to say the least so new required ! Anyone know best place to get a deal on AP discs ?
Rusty front arms seen on floor stripped of bushes ready for blasting , nice to find everything came apart nice and easy so all seems good and straight on the front .

when grant roberts had the car in the 90s, it ran an all steel pinto that was a screamer, always finished in the top 5 on every event it went on,
then steve furzland had it for a few years didnt really change anything on it still a top finisher tho ,
have a look for tour of cornwall rally results there should be stuff on there
kev
Hi Kev,
Thanks for the history !!
No pressure then... :-)
I would rather be shagging me tyres........
Nothing like some pressure for motivation eh Paul?!?
The engine, clutch, ECU, bodies, etc have won the class on every stage they've finished too
More updates please.......you could be ready before me at this rate
Paul
Not sure about that ! struggling with motivation today ... Going to try and get 4hrs in this afternoon !
Cleaning stuff probably :-( all has to be done tho..
It's up to date trying to do Wednesday nights and Friday afternoons busy busy the work shops a bit crowded at the min bits of old Fords getting in the way
I would rather be shagging me tyres........
Hi Paul,
I spoke with Andy this morning, and I can promise thatvmy old banger will be out of your way next week
I've even promised to take some wire cutters to the loom before it goes
Cheers,
Paul
Good man

Cleaning today :-(
Took apart king pins etc thinking about ditching the escort cast steel hubs and replace with alloy ones ... More cost !
I would rather be shagging me tyres........
Few things done last night but nowt picture worthy I don't think .. Removed front shocks, so that the brackets can go with the rest of the pile for blasting.
Andy welded up the bottom of the steering column so that's pretty much finished now just a hole to cut out for the motor to fit in. Steering rack was then removed seems to be in good nick but will be checked as a matter of course.
All brake discs were separated from the bells etc etc
So really a bits and bobs night !
I would rather be shagging me tyres........
should be nice machine when complete, any further updates?
I think I saw this advertised for sale on the British Rally Forum recently
Yes unfortunately the car is forsale
I would rather be shagging me tyres........
Car is no longer forsale..
Work will be recommencing shortly.
The car or myself no longer have any connection to "theexhaustman" (Andy Fraser) or promotive.
And hope never to cross paths again.
The build will continue slowly but of course progress is progress.
I would rather be shagging me tyres........
I'm sure it will be a cracker when it's done.
Metaphorically chasing then !
