If you use the rs2k head you need to skim the pistoms 1mm each to bring the cr down to around 10.7 as that is the limit of the pistons. These engine can not rev over 6k in standard form either you should also fit arp rod bolts too as i found out!

its has the water block on the back of the head and the 1 on the inlet side, and yes i am tight i bort the engine because i couldnt be arsed to do rings on the rs lump so rs cams and 2.3 head,
im not after a screamer of an engine as i no these are not revvy atal but not a bad idea on the aRP'S
Run the twin inlet 2.0 vis manifold off the scorpio for best power and use the port off the side of the inlet as it is more suited for rwd or you could block it off the inlet side and run it off the rear like you are now. Apart from that just bang it in like the rs2k lump. It will cost you nearly £100 in a timing chain kit to put the cams in though.

rite touch as i just found the cams are already rs cams, so size and numbersas in the rs head
gunna try use the side inlet coz im toying with bike carbs/tbs now bin looking at the way you done yours,
took the sump/shafts of today and nearly dropped on me foot, so glad of my fast ninja style reactions fook me what a weighty piece of crap,
where do i go 4 the arps???
Yeah they have to go!!!! They are the weight of a set of cams aren't they! Are you using the front bowl sump or modding it? Remember though when you take the cams out you will have to put a blank in there or you will loose oil pressure which isn't good! The arp rod bolts took me a while to find as they donMt actually do them for an I4 but they do? They came out of a zetec because of fords lasy nature. Lol. Look through my van thread and you will see what i mean and there should be a picture of the arp part number as i can not remember.
im using a sierra 8v sump mate, so today iv made the blanking block up and tapped an blanked the oil way,
found burtons do the bolts and are the same as ztec but they dont do an oil pump both mine are scorced
More work on the more door any way. It looks like she will make retro rides this year (again) in a different shell any way.
Front rear and clutch all sorted and bled up
Both seats went in for a dry run and they are in the perfect possitions
I'm loving how far the passenger sits back
The brackets were put on the arb mounts to try it out so they can stay on the car so it won't take too long to fit the sump guard when i need it
Sump guard trial fitted
Exhaust all fitted after a slight chop
I hope the spare red top fuel pump bobbins i used are strong enough to hold that exhaust system too!
On saturday i spent the whole day wiring up the rear lights using the mk1 escort van loom and wiring up my new front indicators that i robbed out of an old bmw 5 series
Rear lights all fitted up and wired in
The new 5 series indicators installed too. In the grill incase anyone can't see them
I was just saying to my mate too that i can't wait for my mk1 to start to be built so me and my mate morsey can put our names to a nicely build and well preped escort as this one is rough as hell but it will be great to hoon around in.
My rough as hell rad is in being fixed too as i have smashed it to bits the last twice i have crashed now. So it is about time it had some tlc.
im gettin a oil pump of rs16v site,
plans for ignition is esc again for abit untill i save for http://nodiz.co.uk/nodizpro-features.html and i mite keep the twin choke or go for b/c
Me and my mate sam had a big push on on saturday and we got a fair bit done. We put the front screen in fitted the rad up the heater matrix, botht the seats in and got the engine up to temperature to make sure tha fan still worked like it should.
A little videos to keep you believing that it is near:-P. the missing i think is the lack of engining running and my mate being a little heavy footed as he's an injection man.

Right then looking to get this on the road early next week! And mot'd for retro rides.
This is what has happened so far.
Longer studs fitted
Wipers are rocking lovely
Now for the boot fitting. I have seen this done on the rally cars with fibreglass boots but eith pop rivets and ally. But as always all i have is sheet steel and a welder so they are my wepons of choice. Rough as you like it.
Held on with bonnet clips that have now been converted to boot clips
Mk1 esoprt van lights in the rear.
Main beam fixed! Been fucking with wiring for weeks and it was a loose fuse
To protect the wiring and engine bay paint wouldn't want a repeat of the last one.
Eylets welded in
The wiring all nice and tidy.....well away from the alternator any way.
Fuel lines nice and neat
Brake lines tidy aswell
Bonnet ans pins fitted
The bonnet is raised 'gay boy' style on the rear to help with engine bay temps in traffic. Thats the idea any way
And the grill all fitted up for the final time with the indicators in
Harnesses and sears fitted too!
All thats left to do now is fit the rear screen with the new seal :-/ and earth for the wipers and heater motor, mirrors and a washer bottle of somekind as the other one got smashed. The. Mot time. Yay
The way the boot is fitted look feckin cool, rally style
Well thursday as m day. Well it was ment to be. But the vin plate had a hole pumched through it making it impossible to read it. So with the vin number in hand friday was m day.
Here's all the work i done this week to finish her up for m day.
Van plate light in
Center consol
Washes bottle
A very quick arch trim
And all done!
As you can see the pannel gaps are better than when fors made her! Lol i recon due to the fact she has served in the lanes for sometime
Catch tank. Yet to be plumbed up. It the thought that counts though.
Lol.
Excited escort juice
En route to the mot station where she passed with flying colours. Where the mot'er said i'm not into all this go faster shit but there is something about that engine that really does something for me. Lol.
Then friday afternoon after the mot disaster struck! Whilst 'turning round' to go and see my mate on the fram where i built the car this happened. I managed to lip to the farm gate on the diff but it wouldn't climb the drive
So friday was a lite night removing both the shafts and the diff. I had to strip down my battered plated diff to pieces to make sure all the debris and the remaing part of the shaft was reomoved from it. And i was there untill 1 saturday morning getting everything ready to reassemble on saturday late morning. I now know the diff spec and it has ramp angles of 90/30. There is also an option of 60/45 built into the diff which i thought was very clever.
The damaged but working diff
A nice bit off welding on the old shaft by myself i will use this as my new half shaft puller.
All the parts removed from the diff and the bottom of the axle casing
Luckily i had another spare shaft (the correct side) even though it is my last anglia van shaft tot hand! So she is all up and running again with all new fresh oil ready to do another 1500 miles.
I also lowered the fiesta today and picked up a nee sierra so a busy one!
The sierra is housing a sweet little 2.0l pinto injection lump on 64k. So that will soon be whipped out for a spare
She goes well for an auto too!
Anyway i made my target of getting the car ready for retrorides and i just hope they will let the shitter on the passion ford stand as she is a sight for sore eyes :-P.
Jesus mate you broke it in no time lol at least your done now though
On la hill.
I need to find the guys who where on the first and last hairpins in the morning as i had a little slide on them on my first run and would like to see the pictures. I will upload videos soon too. All in all 200miles hassle free although abit boring on the dual carraige ways and motor was but all good fun in the end.
awesome buddy cant wait to see sum vids of her
lovin the no bullshit build and looks good too.
if it aint broke, break it!
Nice when everyone is treating escorts with kid gloves to see one bein used and abused
Looks great and i bet its ahoot to drive !
Hexham and District Motorclub
how long are those front studs?
if there 65mm let me know where you got them please!
if it aint broke, break it!
I ordered the +13mm studs but these turned up by mistake and are the 63mm ones that are +25mm i'm sure I bought them off these people. hope that helps. And thanks for the comments guys I will get the vids up when I get time. I have just bought a 2.8i cappa so I have my hands full with that and the sierra. lol

My mae on the line on his own as I wanted to get a video of her off the line. His take off is slower than mine as he kept sitting on the limiter and spinning up the rears as you'll hear.

My new cappa too :-P
The poor thing was sitting in a garage in bryncethin (near me) and a ka sporting decided to launch it's self off a wall and on top of the poor thing. So she will be broken for the parts for the mrs cappa as it has a mint dash in along with a nice clean interior the box, axle and struts will be of use to the escort as shes a 2.8 don't think it has the lsd though and the engine can be a spare ;-P
