We went through 7 tyres in the day and £70 worth of fuel in the cappa and escort. I went (my mate morsey too) through 2 in the escort as you can see below. And my mates and my mrs who were driving the cappa (4 of them) went through 5.
And a video of my first run of the day. Not brilliant but much better than my lead footed brother

Great pics!! looks like you all had a right laugh
yeee haa, just how a scort should be treated, cant wait 2 hear mine, so close now after hearing that beast
nice 1
Good stuff sounds nice but...
Well i went out in the scort wednesday morning and drove to llandilo with luke off the forum as he was getting his car tweeked on mosleys rolling road and i thought i would go up for the trip. Basically my engine is a little sick as it was only running 170bhp and was down on power right accross the rev range. But what should i have expected with the amount of oil that is in the rad. No problem as i have an engine ready to totally rebuild.
Looks like a lot of fun
Love the moredoor
Looks like your having fun in it lad , engine sounded abit missy in the video though. You checked your leads and plugs recently?

Yeah some videos i can't put up on here they are of in the lanes, i'll keep them to myself. The missing sound is me riding the limiter in first instead of changing gear :-P the plugs and lead/coil packs are fine. I also haven't mension in the thread i went out in her in the lanes the other day and she started over heating and three all the oil/water out of the rad. I think the crack in the head has found the combusion chamber as well. You'll be pleased to know i drove her home almost flat out. when i got home there was steam pissing out of what looked like the head gasket lol so i let it cool down filled the rad up and put her back in the garage ready for another auto test on the 17th. So i will have to get my arse into gear and pick up my new engine i am going to rebuild i'm hoping it it going
to be 200bhp too. The old engine is starting to pink badly now too so it really really is ill.
will u be staying n/a or going snail route????
Lol you are fond of killing them properly aint ya lol
And aslong as there are no clips of the speedo of you going down the lanes then they're perfectly legal to post up

If i get a row i'm going to blame you! Lol. Any way this is the one after she started to go doen hill and had no water in. And i like to get my moneys worth. It is now much better with a proper quick rack in. Another little problem i had was the engine running on after shutting the throttle off as i lost one of the return springs in a massive water splash all sorted now though.

All the roads are national limits too
Ah reminds me of the days when the capri was running well going down essex's country lanes . Running on would be more than a return spring problem on the carb. Generarly when it runs on a part of metal or carbon is glowing red hot still in the combustion chamber and it is still burning the fuel being pulled in threw the carbs. Common problem with old leaded pinto's and crossflows when ran on shitty 95 octane petrol. It burns at a hotter temperature so cylinder temperatures are much higher and things start glowing like valves and seats or even shitty bits of carbon on the piston or head.

Some fucking anout down llandow on the auto test too. The engine is really really down on power now and i kept having to dip the clutch to keep 'er lit.

You can even hear her trying to crank out at the finish line she is that ill :P
that sounds like the pinking problem maybe. all thee carbon from a the oil being burnt and the carbon heating up causing it to pink alot I did skim the head a little too much. can't wait to strip it down mainly to get my arp rod bolts back but also to see what kind of a mess is inside thee engine.

Make sure you keep us posted when you do, we all love a broken bit

Talking about broken bits the 'whats broken this week' thread has gone quiet recently. got my new engine today and started to strip all the shit off it. so i can get to the lump and start stripping that. Should have the bearings on order by the end of the week. Oviously pictures to follow just got to find my honing tool now.
Ah you mean the "show us your broken bit" thread, your right, i haven't seen that updated in a while, make sure you bring that thread back to top then
Regarding engines, do you use the 2.3 block or 2.0 block? I cant remember.

Nah i use a full standard 2.3 engine out of a scorpio/transit with the 2l rs2k cams. and i doubt there will be much to see in the old engine maybe a big gapping crack and some damage to the pistons due to excessive pinking but not as exciting as the last lump. saying that there is an auto test in the quarry on the 8 of december so the old lump might be still in the ol' girl for that.
best get your ass over for one of my track days
Nice one buddy
good to see it getting used as it should lol
dsrestos
Right well first of all I am rebuilding a 2.3 LPG transit engine I bought from the scrap yard. I bought it as a runner (I heard it running). But when I opened her up I found this mess of an engine! Fecking things!
bores 1 and 2 are a mess. I have asked on the forum and I was told it could be hg failure from running lpg as it burns hotter. Either way water has been in there and screwed them bores right up!
The rest of the engine looks nice and clean and the other 2 bores look good for an engine that has done 143k
started stripping the block down
bearing races all look good to me some could do with a quick polish
all stripped down and bagged up
attempted to re-hone the bores in block NO 1! but that failed in cylinder 1 and 2
which as you can see didn't go very well at all!
bore 3 which I just threw the honing tool down quickly to see if they would have cleaned up. Annoyingly it would have!
then I got block NO 2 out of storage. That was fucked too!
At this point i could have thrown one engine block out of the garage window and the other through the poor old capris window. so I decided to lock up and start thinking......... this is were it gets intresting.
I decided to do an autotest on the weekend to take my mind off the failed engine blocks. It wasn't far from where I live and as always was run by bridgend motor club and was a cracking day.
there was a number of problems through out the day and is was soon apparent that the battery had had enough as It wouldn't start after a fuel stop. Luckly one of my mates was there and he gave me a push so I could bump start her.
then when we got to the quarry the local gun nuts were there shooting clays but they soon packed up so we could set up the course.
I have got some videos with my new gopro the mrs bought me for Christmas but I haven't uploaded them yet. I was really happy with the way I was driving on the day I have really learnt a lot about driving the scort although I have loads left to learn too! it ran 3 runs with out water after being jump started off the mrs new KA but on the third run the engine pinked all the way round so i decided to fill her back up with water. You will be albe to see in the photos what run is run 4 as the mrs wouldn't get in the car because she thought the steam that was pissing out from under the bonnet was smoke. Here are the photos from the day.
