Has anyone used one of these, just looking to change the ancient Weber Alpha ECU on my Millington just after some views on the ECU

DTA S60 ECU any good ?

Pukka ecu works really well with loads of different options and excellent after sales service.
    Most rolling roads use them.

Unless you have a turbo'd motor you probably only need the S40. Check the spec's of both ECU's before parting with your cash as the S40 is a very capable ECU and cheaper !!

what has the s60 got that the s40 hasn't? your onlu running a 4 pot in n/a form so the s40 should be fine for what you want and cheaper.

I think the S60 has can interface for the X Dash IIRC as an add on later if required ?

Just looked and the 40 doesn't have Data Logging and is not water proof if it was in a normal car I wold say that's ok but it's going in my rally car and the can get vey damp from past experience !

If the 40 is missing features you need then got with the s60. Are you buying one new? If so contact MEF Motorports he can get you the ecu ecu plugs and all the plugs for the sensor plugs and raykem wire cheapest about too!

Re: DTA S60 ECU any good ?

The S40 has the same can interface as all the others in the DTA range so will work perfectly with an X dash. As far as being waterproof, yes you are right, it's not sealed like the S60 but it's considered to be splash proof and certainly is fine in most situations, in fact there's 1000's of them out there in all forms of Motorsport disciplines. The circuit board and components are actually covered in a protective lacquer so if damp does get inside it doesn't cause corrosion or stop it working! The main reason for customers choosing the S60 is usually down to wanting to use individual coils per cylinder or wanting full sequential injection, also the data logging facility. The S60 also has more features and analogue inputs which can be very handy. The S40 on the other hand does most basic functions and is commonly used on big power 4 cylinder engines like XE and Millingtons etc

Hope this helps, ring me or pm me if you need more info,

    Martin

Compared to some others at a similar price point the software is a bit clunky to use / change on the fly. Most use a 'dyno box' to interface between the ecu and the PC / lappy as changes added via the usual keyboard keys isn't intuative......apparently! I'll find out later this year hopefully but i've also got the box as well! I got the DTA cos it was cheap otherwise would have prefered the Emerald system!

I went DTA, all seems good so far. It was the most cost effective solution for me.

Re: DTA S60 ECU any good ?

Now have an S60 pro unused and just over a year old checked it with DtA via the serial number all ok so just got to get the X-dash, some plugs but want to modify the USB bit with the buttons so I can have the buttons on the steering wheel to change the display on the fly being a fat git and the dash is a long way away lol

Can't make my mind up as to have both gear displays as in the Tractive one that changes colour or just have the X-dash one ?

I have seen a mk 2 with a small display sculpted into the top of the dash and filled then flocked looked quite good but the Tractive one is huge ?

The tractive one is a whopper, but thats what makes it cool!

Well either way i guess if you have the tractive, and will get the x-dash you can have different pages on the dash, one with and one without?

There is only one fly in the ointment I'll need varifocal glasses to see up the road and the dash at the same time lol

Bugger I should have got a DTA S100 it's supposed to have a full gear control unit for paddle shift software/firmware in it now

Just found out on British Rally Forum there is a thread in there about it.

I have a Geartronics display as well as the X-Dash which was a good decision as the gear position on the X-Dash is playing up so I have the Geartronics display to fall back on.

Oh just checked on Paypal got the price wrong lol was £600

    could still be tempted

as fot the barrel sensors the penny-giles ones are amongst the best they go a four wire one (gives 2 outputs 1 for display 1 for engine ecu

I have fixed the problem now. It was not the pot (I have a dual pot that was supplied with the Geartronics paddle shift kit ). Somehow the voltages for 4th, 5th and 6th gear that I stored in the DTA map had changed so I was getting a neutral reading for these gears on the dash.

out of curiosity were the gears wrong on all pages of the x dash?? or does there only have 1 map for gears that goes on all pages of the dash?

Each page gets the same data from the ECU via the CANBUS so the gears were wrong on every page.

DTA usually shutdown for a couple of weeks around this time, as Allan is over here at Craigantlet hillclimb

Bare that in mind if sending the ecu off, check first.

Firmware upgrade is a fairly easy DIY job if you have a cable with a flash button.

All sorted Steve great service too, I going to be getting X Dash so as I thought that was USB I might be able to do a firmware from that when I get it, if not it has the up to date one on it for now.

Troy at Northampton Motorsport will be mapping the car for me

X-Dash wont help with flashing new firmware to the ecu

    Quickish how to for flashing.
