lowering block fitting am i being stupid??

please excuse the stupid questions but this is my first attempt at fitting a rear axle

its a mk1 escort, ive got new single leaf springs from rally design, a 11/2" lowering kit and an atlas axle

the brackets have been replaced on the atlas and are now in the correct position and have a 13mm hole in them for a locating pin?

ive also got some kind of upper brackets for the springs and a rubber insert for it (hope this makes sense)

now ive put it all together how i think it should be but it all seems a bit random regarding positioning as there is a lot of play in all the bits,

should there be a pin that goes through the spring and into the lowering block or right through the whole lot does this do anything apart from line it all up , can i just make something thatll hold it in place until the u bolts are tight.

ive got tramp bars but need all this in the correct place so i can weld the brackets on

dont worry its not being left like this, once ive got the axle in the correct place ill tack the tramp bar brackets in place and start on the panhard rod

chuck away the rubbery bit and that u shaped bracket, you need to sort out a nut/bolt/spacer to locate lowering block correctly on the spring

thanks m8 i was hoping it would be something like that

would this be just to locate it or does it need to be capable of taking some strain?
ive got a bolt that ive basically wrapped tape around so that it fits inside the lowering block, i can get a decent pin made out of stainless though without too much of a problem and cut a thread on the end so that it bolts to the spring

its basically location only, but it wants to be man enough to stop things sliding around if the u bolts loosen at bit with time

probably best if i get something a bit more manly made up then,
is this a common problem as i cant find any pins for sale anywhere, just wondered if its worth getting a batch of them made up?

i used a cap headed bolt on mine, cap to the top and nut underneath. it fitted perfect in the block washers. Think it was M8.

sorry?!? maybe I did not understand it correctly.
the spacer (lowering block) goes between rear axle and the "U" metal guide, not between leaf spring and U metal as shown-
    OR...I'm missing something?
