    20V Austin Healey Sprite

So a friend of mine is undertaking the build of a 20V powered Austin Healey Sprite for some sprinting, and I have been providing some technical info on the 20V engines to help him with the install. It will be running Omex ecu from RAW Engineering, type 9 bellhousing to mate a sequential box to the engine and some other goodies. So heres a few pictures of where hes at so far currently bolted up to a T50 box as this car was previously running a 4A series engine. Will try and keep you guys updated

No need for a water relocation kit then. Loads of space at the back. Is he selling the T50 box?

That will fly running that setup. I like it.

it would seem a shame not to, moving such a big lump of metal back would be a major positive step

looks to me like there is a black marker line around the firewall at the bottom, a marking for where it will be chopped perhaps?

Nope not at all, I didnt realise how much space there is in the bay for this engine, should be easy compared to an escort No idea if he is selling the T50 yet, depends what happens with the sequential.

At the moment I think the engine is just bolted to the box based on the old box mounts as it was already in there, its already behind the front axle but like you say there is plenty of room to move back, provided the exhaust will still fit.

You could be right about the marker line, I shall have to ask

Dont worry Deano ive sorted a T50 box now. Just looked at it again and the only problem I can see here is the water pipe (original top hose on the exhaust side) getting in the way of the bulkhead. Other than that is looks straight forward.

    Re: 20V Austin Healey Sprite

Had some more photos sent across

How the car is looking at the moment

    Engine back in

The engine is now as far back as is practically possible, just enough room to get to cyl4 ITB

From the front, you may also notice that the alternator is hitting the steering rack so it may be relocated to the exhaust side to avoid this but as you can see there is not exactly alot of room for the exhaust either.

    Gearbox tunnel being adapted

And the reason for the only having the type 9 main housing is because the standard type 9 is too long and this is the gearbox that is proposed to be installed, Sadev Ford Type Short, 6 speed sequential

Looks like it working out really well, the position of the engine looks really good and hopefully I can help with the alternator bracket.
