MT75 G'box into a Mk1 Escort
Has anyone used the MT75 gearbox in a Mk1 Escort and found anyone who can supply a hybrid propshaft for this installation?
I imagine if a 2 piece prop was used, then a slider could be used in the rear section but would like to know if anyone has previous experience with this.
Cheers,
Pete

There should be some info on here somewhere, I know Richard chambers put some pics and info up when he put one into his old mk2 the flying bogey as he called it in the projects section!

not exact the same as you, using one in my mk1 cort used a shortend down two piece prop off a 240 volvo , was easier for me as diff is volvo , a few cars share the guibo pattern ,bmw and alfa ,volvo of course , i kept the volvo center bearing but used a ford rubber isolater and the steel support cage /carrier from a sierra as it fitted better into the tunnel .Zyworld capri uses these boxes a lot in their conversions ,was using a landrover prop as a base , best to choose a prop that the bearing cups can be serviced on , circlip retained and not staked in like the sierra ones.Quickest way out is to have the whole unit made up , heavy duty guibo s from the bigger bmw or there is a poly version from one of the poly bush makers ,flowtech ? , next bother is clutch action --cable or hydraulic , then speedo --cable or electronic.

Re: MT75 G'box into a Mk1 Escort
I have this box in my Mk2 with Zetec. You need a starter from a 2.0 DOHC Sierra or Granada between 85-93 I believe. When it comes to the clutch, no need to buy the £75 modified release bearing to make the action correct - just go to GBS (great british sports cars) and buy one of their longer release arm pins for about £12. Some of these boxes have both electric and cable speedo, electric is important if like me you are using the standard ecu and need a speed sensor for it. I haven't got to the prop yet but have heard god things about Mac props. I have two two piece props, one with the MT75 flange on one end then another with the Atlas flange on. Hoping to send these off to be made in to one. For a small bit of hassle it is a far superior box to a type 9, lighter and able to cope with much more power. Good luck.

Cheers guys.
It looks like the 2 piece prop is the way to go with a sierra front end coupled to an escort rear.
It's a good job it's getting a big tunnel fitted too.
