could be literally in a manor of speaking, going by its location i think the suspension, brakes and lsd are from my old race 02.
Seems cheap ,compared to an escort, out of interest what does a car like this weigh Graham?
Thats cool.
its not dead till it's buried!
T.I.T engineering. "Feel the power!"
oh dear, ive been thinking about this and phoned the owner last night, although its not in the hands of the chap i sold all my suspension bits and a race 75% lock lsd too, it is the same stuff.
going to look at it later.............
I like that, very cool
here it is, its not in my lock up yet, but will be in a weeks time, ive left a deposit on it. im not paying the asking price, but even so need to find plenty of stuff to sell to pay for it, as im having to nick the money out my business fund. Anyone want a Bandit 1200?
im not overly fond of the box arches but think they will stay, especially in lieu of it having had a recent respray, mind you its going to take massive wheels to fill those arches, especially the rears, those 7x15's are lost in them.
yes it definatly has got my suspension, ledas, adjustable arb and rear beam, unfortunatly it has a std 4 speed box and bog std 105bhp 318i engine.
tbh ive no immediate plans for it as such, racing simply isnt an option right now. but i am thinking about it!
qmn class E is an option, and the best way to go would be a 2.0 version of my old m3 engine, but im not going to spend s14 money, next best option would be a huge cc 8v m10.
if i do anything though its most likely going to be a 2.0 8v m10, because it leaves more doors open to race in various different series and perhaps some historic stuff. having built various capacity over 2.0 long stroke m10's , im now tempted to raid the bmw parts bins and build a short stroke 2.0, my last 2.0 m10 made peak power @7800 on a 89.5 x 79.5mm (std is 89x80), using the bmw parts bin i could build one thats 1971cc 94x71 that really would rev!
will keep you out of mischief won't it.
its home
huge box arches, 7x15 wheels, an inch thick wheel spacer and thers still room for another 3,4 inches of wheel,
thinking of going onto 10x13 hotrod wheels
not much interior! still it makes it easy to see the floor and sills, its had a bit of welding but its not in escort league thankfully,
its got the rear half of a cage sitting in it, i also got the rest of the cage with door bars, but that will be sold, a proper weld in multipoint will be fitted
rather messy 105bhp e30, 1.8m10 injection engine install, still it will provide some handy spares, and sits on brand new expensive poly mounts.
when it comes its replacement will be a 2.0 m10, target power 220+bhp
rose jointed adjustable front arb
shiney fuel tank, soon to be for sale
final proof rear end is mine, beam has been lightened, and is adjustable for camber and has red race poly bushes, drive shafts with lightened cv joints

I like it
What size is the fuel tank please?

just had a bit of a rummage under it, i sold two lsd's a 3.64 and a 4.1, had no idea which one was in the car, turns out its the 4.1, which is good news, that will suit a direct top gearbox 13's and a redline around 9k
i'd noticed from inside the car the drivers floor appeared pushed up, heres why clearly someone jacked it up under the chassis but o/s chassis rail is toast, i dont think new rails are available, but it wont be the hardest thing to fab.
its got unknown vented/grooved/drilled discs, the ones i used were just vented, and brembo 4 pots, those will prob go as they wont fit under a 13, im thinking of adapting an escort AP kit. discs are though attached to my hubs, i recognize the lightening holes in the hubs. i keep finding my self suprise how rusty all the suspension bits look, but then again it was 9 years ago i sold them!
It looks like it's been sat outside for a very long time looking at the supension and underneath... Looking forward to the progress...
This should be good....
Looking forward to the progress pics and what comes of this.

its a long way to go,
might need some inspiration
been poring over engine power graphs, deffo going with 2.0, my best made 200bhp, but by the time it did that i suspect it was getting tired, the 2.0 peaked @7.7, the 2.5 with big bore exhaust @7.3, surprisingly high in comparison with the 2.0 considering the massively bigger cc on the same cam and valves, what i now know though was the 2.5 head did out flow the 2.0, however im sure i can improve on the 2.5 head, which should see the 2.0 hanging on for even more revs and power, the best 2.0's are supposed to do 220bhp so thats exactly what im aiming for.

Very cool Graham, I love a 2002!
Like the arches too! Keep us all posted.
Awesome, glad you got that! Seemed too cheap to let it slip by! Looking forward to the future updates when you get some time and money to do them!
That bottom one looks tidy
.
is that a challenge nick?
when i ran the 02 it was rare for an N/A escort to get the better of me, i scalped quite a few BD's, perhaps they didnt push as hard, because the only one i remember coming second to was roger burgess's pinto powered one, even then it more usually went my way

My 8v Escort will never have 220+ bhp but if you want to build a 180bhp engine for yours then yes that's a challenge ( IF I don't sell it in the meantime)
Its not the escorts you have to worry about Graham

Do love the look of this one... its just missing 30 inches of trumpets poking out the bonnet.
Gotta agree Gary, gonna be an awesome build.
800kg with a 220bhp 8v will be a hell of a nice car to race!
