Sometimes its a good idea to walk away and come back with a fresh head, the number of times i almost put a hammer through the window of mine

This is very true 5tox ill get back to the doors next week now I was told to try putting the one half of the hinge on first top and bottom then hang the doors but the old head that told me couldnt remeber the best way to bolt them on he thinks it may of been the highest point away from the lock im hoping someone on here may shed some light on it for me may be northwest wink wink
all good fun mate im sure you will sort it! my doors already drop at the minute but i reckon ill have the same issues!
Door hinge pins wear out on these and cause the doors to drop, replacement pins are easy to get but check the bore size of the hinge to make sure it has not ovalled out.
I looked at the hinges this morning and coz there still held together with the pins in I grabed a hold of them to see if there was any play there but there isnt they were solid very strange or would I not feel the play like this
would it only be when its bolted to the motor with the weight of the door on them
I would have thought you would feel movement but it would really show up with the weight of the door on it.
any updates?
Hi nobby car is still taking shape
I aint been putting any updates on as yet as the old laptop gave out on me a while back and I cant seem to get the photos off my phone onto the site
so far iv rebuilt the upper bulk head and heater bowl and repaired the scuttle side sections so the front is all done just in need of a scuttle vent panel
as for the middle of the cat thats 90% done along with all the skids on to now im at the rear of the car where I have fitted two second hand quarter panels so just the rear panel to fit and the 15"tubs wich is all sat there in the shed waiting
problem I have had is the rear c pillars aint the best and I haven't been able to source any so made a start tonight after work on making some repair sections which have come out pretty bloody good lol they just dont have the slots in them for the vents yet
thanks for the intrest and I will get some pics up soon as I grt my arse in for a new laptop
oh iv been following this with interest, sounds like you making great progress mate. cant wait for some pictures now.
Keep at it it will come
any up dates boss????
looking good mate how u getting on with hanging the doors?
Hi guys ye sorry still no laptop for uploading the photos
I have however now fitted the back panel and tubs along with the inner and outer repair sections for petrol tank and spare wheel also I managed to get a second hand roof with pillars of a nice chap from historic motorsports in exeter so I now have to good pillars on the rear of the car
I made a start on the link boxes whilst home last week they are all in place I just need to weld them in and start on the panhard rod and front seat mounting tubes then just decide if im going to put a raised exhaust tunnel in or not then get her to be sand blasted
Fantastic thread! What a project. Kudos to you for cracking on with it!
fair job on ur car there
but at least ur getting closer to painting side oh things
Hi chaps a quick update on the motor welded the link boxes up today and the braces allso got to start on the turrets wich for some reason took me bloody ages
a simple task and I was scratching my head like a mong
I have allso noticed today that when I put the front slam panel on I lined up the holes that line up with the threaded holes on the inner wings but i have measured other cars and it seems im like 12 mm short on the distance between the wing rails so question is do I take it back off or leave it as is
there is some pictures long over due on this thread mate.
pictures???? or has it come to a stop??
hi guys this is a belated post as im working away more than im home at the moment butt I have been getting on the car as and when
its been a challenge to say the least especially since im a novice to welding and arranging panels butt she is now at the media blaster and I did snoop in Saturday to see how its going and so far so good so hopefully a few very minor areas around the roof gutters and some more dressing the welds up she be good for paint cant wait
lets see if these pics come up there not the best butt my daughter has taken the diary photos which I will put up when its finished
wwooooww different car now!!! did ya change he quarter panels on her?? you have made a car out of that one now doh fair play.
yes I put second hand quarters on there but they wasn't the best so they had some patching butt they was better than what I had
Cars back home Tuesday and going to need some primer straight away dose anyone no if the grey anti corrosion paint commonly used in the engineering trade be ok on the underside and inner arches and be capable of being over painted with stone chip
lot of progress what does the blasting cost ? and where was it done ?
Blasting is being done by beyntons in Caldicot price for in and out of the car along with the roll cage was 500
Car came back today and must say not very happy as it was dropped of the spit and caused some damage to the back panel and the roof now hss some stretched metal in the front or oil canning as it is known and to top it off its been primed whilst still full of the media that was used
Not a very good advert for them then !
Hell no my and my roll cage looks like its just been primed and not blasted and im finding more spots easy accessible that hasnt been done
Well after a fair few weeks working away the coming home for Xmas didn't come quick enough
As its be hard work switching off from wanting to get on the car and getting the ball rolling
Well I got the family stuff out the way and cracked on
Now I got the wings on the and three of the arches so far along with the roof vent cut and three coats of anti corrosion paint on the underside and two coats of stone chip (poor neighbours smelling that Xmas night )
Have started to do some filling today on the quarters like where I filled in the fuel filler and where I welded the second hand quarters on
I'm going to having a crack at the wiring loom mess now whilst her indoors is out for a while as its pecking freezing out side now and I don't think she would of let me bring the loom in whilst she was here
Dose any one have a diagram what gets added to the original crossflow loom to take a pinto with electronic ignition coz I can't quite make sense of what's been done here
its seems like its taken forever to get from the mess I bought it like to how it is now
cant the hang of this uploading any one no how I can rotate them photos as there not like that in my file
bit more done on the car butt I forgot to take the photos of the underside after paint whilst it was up side down on the spit

Hi guys could anyone give me a measurement from bulkhead to centre of heartsick hole please would be most grateful
Come on guys surely someone can give me this measurement its for the type nine box
The rs hole is cut such that it goes back as far as the rear edge of an oval cutout in gearbox tunnel xmember if that helps ?
Hi Aladdin I have no cut yet as I changed the tunnel for the larger one and like a clown rushing away I didn't take measurements and I don't really want to put the engine and box in to get the position to cut out butt I may have to go down that road I suppose cheers though bud
I can measure my mk1 but working this weekend so not sure I will get in garage sunday.
Ok cheers for replys bud top man
