Hi everyone,
Could anyone be kind enough to measure the thickness of the caliper mounting lug on their bilstein front struts please?
Ive got some new front brakes and discs and im struggling to get them to fit without tweaking, and I dont want to machine (file / butcher!) anything as I plan on changing the struts to ones with more travel at some point.

Yes i could, but i'd like to understand why they don't fit first. I just thought someone might have a spare strut on a bench somewhere that they could measure.

I've just measured a dozen or so strut casings for you, and they varied from from 13.4mm to 15.8mm...so I reckon your legs are within tolerance!! What brake kit (and where from) are you fitting and what exactly is the problem...I may be able to help with a couple of pics.
Ive found they do vary slightly.
I recently fitted RX7 brakes with adapters made by a guy over here in Aus, and found I had to machine the adapters down slightly a couple mm on one side so the disc was centred correctly (while his fitted perfectly). If your not using any type of calliper adapter then id assume just a couple correct size quality washers might help things?
Thanks Chaps, they are back under the bench for now until i have more time to scratch my head whilst staring at them!
But it looks like a case of shaving a bit off the mounting bracket going on the tolerance that GP4 has given me, plus he 2mm difference in the two sets of hubs that i have.
Bring the brakes up Saturday Paul, I promise not to use the hammers!
