Anybody know where i can find spark plug adaptors for a pinto?
Thanks
Speak to Steve Curson at Vulcan engineering, I take it you mean for bike plugs? or if your handy on a lathe you can make them.
Borrowing old thread
I have spark plug adapters for pinto. 14mm thread diameter, 19mm thread length. NA 130-150hp street car, cr 11:1, double dellortos. What plugs should I use?
NGK BCR7ES or something else?
Old plugs were APR7FS. I have Sierra electric ignition (small black box)
Nothing. But i am servicing engine, new pistons, better head etc. and i want try small thread plugs.
Other that the plug thread and dimensions, the important thing is to match the heat rating of your existing plug, assuming your existing plugs have the correct heat rating!
Dave Walker talks about this in his book Engine Management: Optimizing Modern Fuel and Ignition Systems, which is a great read and belongs in every petrol heads house.
Smaller 12mm plugs are better for piston clearance if you have skimmed alot off the head, i got mine from Vulcan but notice HPE now stock the adaptors, i use NGK DPR9EA-9 plugs with mine.

Thanks guys. As I said I have adapters allready and they are 14mm thread, so 12mm plugs won`t fit. And if I continue usin NGK plugs I will stay heat range 7. Done little bit google searching and looks like I try BCPR7ES at first. Maybe...
I have bought adaptors from BHP and the plugs supplied together have smaller diameter ceramic insulator, meaning that lead's ends are not sealing the terminals. I didn't even try using it.
I will try first NGK BCPR7ES and Denso W22EPU.
No, i used Pinto plug leads obviously for the correct length and distributor cap ends, and replaced the plug caps with these, i used the straight ones, the chart below will allow you select the correct plug caps to suit your spark plugs.

Cut the old plug caps off and screw on the new ones, lubricate the ends of the plug leads with some grease before you screw them on as the seal is tight, grease will let you screw them all the way home.

Yep, thats the issue, you just spec the plug caps from the NGK guide link above dependent on what plugs you have, with the correct plug caps fitted to the leads they fit the new style plugs perfectly.
You'll see ''terminal type'' on the part number tables, make sure you select the correct type for your plugs.

As I'm hoping to get some work done on Kermit next week I thought I would use this thread as people are talking about one of my questions
I've purchased some spark plug adapters from BHP (thanks Clint ) but I decided to get the plugs out here to save a little on postage.
So, what plugs would people recommend for a 2.2 making about 200bhp and being used in a car that's really only been used as a track car??
I look forward to your replies
Cheers

What heat range did u have in it before.
hi dazzle
standard pinto run apr6fs heat range your got 7 there not standard cheers mario. im running same plug range also.
Hi dazzle try 7 heat range going from a 6 to 7 heat range I didn't notice much differece they say the earth tip should have the heat mark in the centre or middle of tip if that makes sense cheers Mario.
the heat range is ONLY about keeping the plug in the right temperature range, you wont notice ANY difference unless the plug is so cold its fouling or getting to hot and either melting the tip or causing pre ignition. ngk 7 heat range will be fine in dazzles engine, infact 6 probably would too, although 7 definaty safer for track use
