    Atlas axle

Hi, I have an atlas axle for my mk1 escort. I'm keeping standard arches (possible rolled) once I have replaced them. I've read that the 'baby' atlas being 48.5" is the one for escorts on standard arches. Does anyone know where this measurement is taking from? The end of the flange, including or not including the flange plate, of the end of the half shafts.

Hey there, diging this stone old thread out for a bit...you dont happen to have this car still? or if you remember what size tyres were you running with this axle/wheel setup and were your arches rolled?

    Re: Atlas axle

Allright cool, ive got some 6j capri alloys but with 175/65 13 tyres. They are just scrap tyres I put on to see how the car will sit but really its about the size I'll end up using most likely, so I think It should fit then, thanks

    Re: Atlas axle

Cool video but didn't mention how much power atlas axle can cope with and what are the weakest parts and what special parts and what can be reinforced and how.

    Re: Atlas axle

Everybody says to me, that atlas is bad axle and so be safe change to 9" strange axle.
I am running 500bhb+ and 650nm torque with current settings. When I orderd LSD/shafts from Quaife they said that is won't hold....

    Re: Atlas axle

Depends what you're going to use the car for really?

And if you're going to start heading for 600-700bhp then it might start to struggle with that.

It is more like street cruiser and burnout machine. Power is rarely used. And running atm. just 205-50-15 tires. (Next ones might be 215-50-15 R888)

Well the R888 won't help it as they'll be quite grippy which will put extra stress on the axle.
