Thanks guys. Yes, it's a Hasselgren Atlantic engine. 12:1 compression, TRD cams and TRD complete bottom end, dry sump etc... Going for an 1800 crank, rods and pistons next year for approx. 275bhp. The car is still in the works at the moment. Should be running in a month or two. It's going in my daily driver AE86 Corolla along with a 6 speed box and Cosworth dash.

    Proper 4AGE, Awesome!

Why the plan to move from 1600 to the 1800 crank if you dont mind me asking?
I assume you shall use an 83mm stroker crank with the 4age block bored to 83mm?
275bhp? is that still keeping it sub 10000rpm? Hoping my 4AGE 20v wont be far short of those numbers when finished (aiming for 250-260)

This is one one animal of an engine, but the future sounds even better! But unfortunately you are now going to have to keep us updated on both this engine and the AE86

    Thanks.
Planning the change simply to get it making more power and torque. The 1800s do 275 at approx. 9800 and hold that until around 10100 when they taper off. I can do the conversion for about 3k (USD) so it makes sense.
It consists of a custom crank that Hasselgren had designed, long rods and 2 ring short pistons.
It's all done within the 4age block although they also have a different 4afe ( I think ) block that they use as well.
I was going to post my build on here but didn't since it's majority Ford.
Grew up around MK2s but haven't seen a sniff of one since moving to SF

What's the spec on your 20v ? Sounds like a high end engine.....

I thought it may be the case, 4AGE's do lack in the torque department

Sounds like cracking stuff, but wow 3k usd, wish things were that cheap over here! Custom Hasselgren crank sounds interesting though, you will definitely have to post more info on that when the time comes! I assume the long rod, short piston combination is to get a decent rod/stroke ratio as most 4age strokers have a dont seem to get anything better than 1.5:1

Sounds like the 7AFE block is the alternative, which is identical to the 4age but taller that can be used with a 4age head to give a long stroke 1.8 without any crank changes, good man for staying with the standard block though

Seriously worth posting your build on here though, I know its mainly fords but everyone appreciates something different to the usual escorts especially something like an AE86

Well to be honest its not built yet! The last major parts of my bottom end component parts only arrived last week and I have to wait till the end of the year before I build the bottom end up so money can be spent on the escort to have a usable car to put it in, the head & exhaust will have to be done next year unless I win the lottery! Another 20v build of a similar spec achieved 253bhp @8350rpm so it should be around that figure. Once in a lifetime opportunity to be able to spend the money on this so I just had to do it.

    Heres the proposed spec anyway:
    4age 20v block bored to 83mm
    83mm stroke steel crank
MRP full crank girdle with ARP mains
    Teflon Crank Scraper
Moroso baffled & gated race sump (wet)
TODA Oil Pump Gears + ported oil pump
    HKS oil pressure lift kit
Accusump oil accumulator (just in case of starvation)
    CP Carrillo H-beam rods ARP'd
12.5:1cr CP pistons ceramic and teflon coated on crowns and skirts respectively
    BHJ Harmonic Balancer
    ARP Headstuds
    Cometic head gasket
    Formula Atlantic slack side tensioner
    Power enterprises kevlar cam belt
    Adjustable cam pulleys
    4AGE 20v Blacktop ITB's
    4TZ-FE 425cc injectors
Ledwith Racing full race head (CNC ported) 20v Blacktop
(Undecided on cams as I might get Ledwith racing to spec them, but similar to Cat-Cams race spec 291 duration with 11.0mm lift to give you an idea)
Simpson Race Exhausts Manifold & System

I know it will never be a touch on a true Formula Atlantic engine like your beautiful Hasselgren beast. But I hope you like
