The storey that ford made some turbo kits for the pinto has been about for years, i don't remember if anyone ever got to the bottom of it though? A FF engine design study was offerd as a possable sugestion for it coming about but they used the Xflow? I've had part of a kit meself and some of the parts carry'd Ford part numbers but there was no carb with the kit i had (had the same RS emmbossed penham as the ebay one).

I've worked on this engine and IMHO ford had nowt to do with it as it had loads of design faults. We put the R5 carb on there as a last result to get it running and it still was a bit shite

that carb top hat looks just like the ones for the turbo kit for turboing the carb'd cvh which was available through the rs parts catalog before the advent of the injected rst

ford did have some dealings with turboing a pinto, i went to see one a few years back in dagenham, looked nothing like that though and the fella wanted 350 quid for it which even at the time i thought was dear. they used some form of twin choke, bit like a 32/36 but i think it was a 32/34 or 30/34 with a very strange top hat, in some ways i wish i bought it now.
