Getting excited and trial fitting the bubbles with tape, I'm a long way off fitting them properly!

Trial fitting the floor, I did this about 20 times before I was happy to fit it! When I was happy i had it fitting nice I used self tappers to secure the floor

Amazing job, much better than patching bit by bit. Is it going to be a competition car or for the road?

Thanks apmonty, Its going to be a competition car….for the road haha. I might do the odd track day and hill climb in it but it will mostly be used on the road.

Today I cut out the old A pillar and fitted a new panel

Nice work on the floor Ive got mine to do but looking like June before I get started... did you only brace the A and B pillars I was going to do a bit more bracing.

    Re: MK1 Escort restorartion

Thanks Tony, yeah split rims I was planning on fitting a set of 15" image RS 4 spokes when funds permit!

Cheers CrazyPolak, I only braced my A and B pillars, my chassis rails were nice and solid though! I took measurements to make sure nothing moved. Some people will probably say brace it more but I didn't have any issues, the floor dropped in fairly easily and all the measurements are still the same. I was worried it would move but I didn't want to fit more bracing as it would of made it more difficult to get the floor in and work around the bracing!

    Re: MK1 Escort restorartion

I fabricated the passenger side 15" front wheel bowl today, hopefully I can make a start fitting that over the weekend.

This is part way through the shaping, there is still a bit of work before its finished.

The finished product, ready to be trimmed and fitted!

I also started fitting the drivers side sill, I only had time after work to cut the old one off and get it all screwed in place with self tappers, nearly ready to weld it on.

    Thanks everyone!

Finlay, Thanks, I am very pleased with how the floor looks, I ordered some of the floorpan repair sections before and they were ripply as anything, but this whole floorpan you can get is very nice quality! Its not exactly a cut it out and fit the new one job but if you spend the time getting it screwed in place before and sat down on the rails properly it fits very nicely!

Slow progress today, I think all the 7 day weeks and long days have started to catch up to me! Managed to get the sill welded on and ground back though, every bit I do is 1 bit less to do though

True craftsmanship! Not many people out there who form and fabricate metal like that.

Quickrack, there are 2 you can buy, the bare floor which is the one I bought at around £350 or the complete floor at closer to £500 with all the nuts and brackets and stuff already fitted, since I'm going large tunnel and and getting rid of anything thats not necessary I count see much point in paying and extra £200 for some stuff I'm going to cut off anyway haha.
