I can vouch for the St170 turbo, it is my mate Simon's car and the thing is an animal, with it on the old switch it would just bang in but now it is really smooth, it just pulls and pulls and pulls to the limiter now. The car has run in the 11's at Santa pod, on road tyres with an ageing and whining type 9 bolted to the back of it! The spec of the engine is pretty much bang on.

so if i fitted some bike bodies to my st170 focus what would i need for it to run? would i need an aftermarket ecu or use standard ecu and the vvt pro? if i did need an aftermarket ecu what would you reccomend and how much to come to you and you map it with the vvt pro? thanks

I have mine running well and quiet as a mouse now after I tapped the controller Into the tps and altered the settings on the over run/no throttle my engine didn't seem to like fully advanced cam on the over run at all It was making horrible noises...Its currently set so when tps load Is zero theres no cam advance and Its running/pulling really well still not finished playing with the settings though I am going to try halfway house 27 degrees on zero load see how that goes..

Impressed with software though as It shows weather your static timing Is correct also

    Hi,
Interesting reading details of the development of your piggy back ecu. I went around this a bit the wrong way, as in I bought one and fitted it before fully researching!!!

Having said that, I'm happy with the product and have installed your standard map. I was just wondering what work you have done on the forced induction engine, is your standard advance setting different?

For your information, I'm running a switchable supercharger through Hayabusa ITB with an Omex 600 ecu.

    Thanks in advance

Edited to add: Sorry to resurrect an old thread, blame google!!

    Sorry for the resurrection,..

I've been playing around with tuning the CAM timing here in the US on my SVT. I'm finding some good gains so far making changes to the cam timing when load goes above 100% (into boost)

has anyone else had success with tuning the VVT for boost instead of NA?

I'd love to share this info as i progress.

Re: The definitive ST170 VVT Information....

Hello, I know that thread isnt up to date, but I was building some time my st170 setup, from first engine start I had vvt delete, I didnt had 100% functional vvt cam or solenoid. Engine was operating +24*inlet and -4* exhasut as I found on the forums, car was very lazy to around 5500 rpm. Some time ago I get my hands on 100% well working VVT parts. After some tuning lambda run lean from 0,85 to 0,95 from 4000rpm to almost 6000rpm. VVT map in this area was advanced all the way to 50*, from 6000rpm to the end 7800rpm 30*. Yesterday we finally had oportunity to check and change a few bits, result is almost 209 ponys at hard limiter. My opinion is to not even think not to run VVT in this engine. Here is the graph. i hope this will help some users to decide what needs to be done with this engine
