Fully Synthetic Oil In a type 9 ?

    Good Day Chaps,

The guy at the store said it will be fine in the older boxes ,
Would I be able to use this Castrol BOT 402 SAE 75W-85 GL4 Fully Synthetic manual transmission fluid in my type 9 box safely ?

Its just that I now have a few bottles of this lying around , tried to get some info from an auto supplies shop and they said it should be fine. But to be perfectly honest i dont have much confidence in little snot nosed tadpole behind the counter and his little motor experience that is no dought limited to rice burners

Just for information there is an issue using GL-5 spec oil in some older cars gearboxes.

Lol now I am confused again , it is GL-4 , but fully synthetic , wonder if this will cause problems with the yellow metals ?

No - its the additives in GL-5 that make it 'slippery' so causing the syncro's to function worse and corrode 'yellow metals' of which there are plenty in older gearboxes. A GL-4 whether it is straight, semi or fully synth is good to go and won't harm BUT the actual 'feel' of the change slickness may vary with oil type.
