....... bugger.
oh well, back onto ebay then!!!
There is no 1.8 SE, so what you have is probably right. Do some more investigating.
sorry, it's a 1.6. and no it doesnt fit.
Anyone worked out how to sort the reverse light out? Is there an existing switch or do I need to put in a manual switch?

Use the original rx8 arm and clutch bearing just in the same possition as the fords original arm using the original type 9 cable too, why no one has done it before i don’t know. In practice it is a simple mod. I am hoping to just take the pivot ball out of the box move the possition of it and either weld it onto an existing bolt in the box or do something else with it, and try to keep it to a £15 product. Either way it will be cheap or free with a bit of chopping. I will be giving out this advice for free to anyone who buys an adapter plate then. I have a free few days towards the end of the week and nothing to do so i will keep everyone updated.
If anyone is interested my Freddy plate and RX8 gearbox package is up for sale following a change of project.
Personally injury has gotten in the way really. Fluid on the knee from bumping it has really slowed things up. I had a chance to have a wuick look in the garage ansthe original arm won’t work. I am looking into using the original type 9 clutch arm. Ideal if you are changing from a type 9 to an rx8 box. It can’r be hard to do.
Freddy, thanks for the update, using the type 9 I would have thought may be better any way. Assuming the arm is long enough or holes can be widened out, I would have looked to pivot on the rx8 pivot (simple bolt), cut the opposit side (approx 8 o’clock when looking into the box) then weld on (possibly bolt) on a cable point to pull from the front.
Looking forward to seeing the results, and do take it easy and hope the knee gets better soon.

theres a guy already selling fabricated arms ( earlier in this thread ?) although not cheap for an arm. i did have a quick look a while back and it looked like the pivot point needs moving but plenty of bolts in that area to make a support off. i am sure a ford arm will do it even if both ends need chopping and re welding. i will have to have another look.
I used rx8 arm moved the pivot slightly
Works fine with long 2m clutch cable
There are pics vids on this thread of it early in the thread

right guys i had a look at this but i was limited with what i could do as i borrowed the type 9 arm and couldn't cut it up. the RX8 one will not work at all. The only option i can see is to adapt the type 9 arm to suit the rx8 release bearing as the centre of the bearing on the rx8 is bigger than the type 9 one. you should be able to pick up a pivot point off one of the many bolt locations with in the box for the type 9 arm too. So, not much of a update but i will keep looking for a cheap type 9 arm i can cut about and mess with.
Type 9's are starting to prove difficult to locate in NZ now also.
Is anyone still selling the adapter plates for fitting an RX8 onto the back of a Pinto? Or selling the cutting file?
Regards Russ
hi guys,
has anyone got one of these sitting on the ground at the moment that could give me some measurements please ?
i need the overall length from tip of the input shaft to the output shaft and the measurement from the tip of the output shaft to the edge of the bellhousing
thansk to anyone that can help! cheers
I can get those but will be rough as not easy to measure.
As to arm a chap called lee butcher does them but won't sell them separate to plate. I think he posted on here at some point.

Does anyone know the width / dimensions of the 6 speed rx8 box?
I have an auto tunnel (mk1) and it fits in OK and I'm even using the hydraulic slave cylinder.
Using the input shaft as reference point the main body is actually not as tall as a type 9 but it hangs down more at the bottom.
The gearstick turret comes up in the same place as type 9.
I did have to cut off a lug on the nearsideside to clear the tunnel and also shave the bellhousing on the nearside to clear the Ashley exhaust manifold(zetec engine)
have been following this thread with interest. have fitted an auto tunnel and purchased a gearbox. just need the adapter plates and mounts now. freddy 686868 do you still have plates for sale for Zetec? i dont have enough posts to Pm you cheers
I seem to be having the same problems you had with the release bearing just touching the fingers on the clutch, can you tell me how and if you managed to get over it
some quick measurements guys..... bellhousing to tail is 33in long
bellhousing to gearstick is 29in (same as the type 9)
bellhousing is around 14in wide but does go out to about 15.5in on the diagonal
if anyone needs any pic`s, give me an email address or messenger and i`ll send some... i`ve given up on photobucket lol

It’s not difficult just position the arm to fit through the hole u made and make a plate to fix the pivot dome same height and distance from the centre shaft
Mines been working for while now

C20XE and RX8 gearbox, what flywheel an clutch I can use ?
You can use the flat faced xe flywheel/clutch pressure plate ans a ford 23 spline 1” type clutch friction plate. You will need to machine 15mm off the bellhousing face and you can use the rx8 clutch arm release bearing and slave cylinder. If you need any more advice or an adapter plate let me know.
What sort of power/torque can these boxes handle?
Anyone got one behind a turbo engine?
I was thinking RX7 FD box, but RX8 box could be option.
Cosy turbo with rx8 box seems ok upto 300 :-)
