    Cockpit Instrumentation

In an attempt to make the 'office' side of my cossie more desirable (and less like a 1.6L) i have stuck in some rather usefull gauges and a nice headunit.

    Featuring:
Air Charge Temperature gauge fitted in the old amplifier
Oil temp, pressure and boost gauge in the air vents.

I have tried to do it in a fashion that Ford would've done if they had thought of it. I chose the gauges as they are roughly the same style as the main clocks (white numbers, green light and red needle) - I am particularly pround of the gauge mount which I made myself and spent all weekend paintig in an attempt to get a nice 'black plastic' style finish. Even if I do say so myself, I think it looks pucker!!

Could'nt agree with u more Hugh, only with my failing eyesight due to old age I did mine as
white face and red needles. If u look closely u can c my ACT gauge fitted where the diggi clock
used to be. The buttons are now dummy just to fill the holes that would have been left had I just
    taken the clock out.

    Thanks for your coments mike.
It depends on what you're going for, your's is a lot more "I'm somthing special, come play with me" with the white dials, steering wheel, gearknob and pedals. I currently am doing things a bit more low key.

I love the way you've done the ACT, that looks superb.

    Re: Cockpit Instrumentation

I do prefer black dials, but I do have a couple of white one's, boost and water injection pressure (which doesn't illuminate). I was thinking of blocking up the central air vents, but then I decided i'd rather have some kind of ventilation form the centre:

The air - fuel ratio meter is there only because the previous owner had a gr8 big mobile phone holder, which was screwed into the dash (!!!!!), so I "reworked" the holder to accomodate the AFR meter.

    Re: Cockpit Instrumentation

Slim, I was just trying to keep the style the same as the rest of the dash..

Wes, I've been thinking about an AFR meter, more and more people seem to swear by them for obvious reasons. Is the only way to wire one in by (in my case) welding a Lamda sensor into the exhaust?

I've just looked at the photo again, I am really chuffed with the finish!

    Re: Cockpit Instrumentation

Sapphy , I've got a Webcon Alpha T026 Air - Fuel ratio kit (£145 +VAT + Delivery), which has all the parts required. Basically, you drill a hole in the exhaust as close as possible to the exit of the turbo, and have a threaded boss welded over it, which is where the lambda sensor screws in. More info here:
