Cossie engine noise
Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. My engine is making a very top endy noise, sounds like when a lifter coslapse on a cvh. Any ideas?? The higher you rev the lounder it gets, almost disapears at tickover. It has good compression, and seems to run fine apart from the noise.
Any help gratfully received

Hi BigLee, welcome to turbosport!
I had the same noise, I had put a new set of genuine Cosworth lifters in, and they just never really stopped tapping, sometimes the noise would go away for a while, then back it would come. Might be an idea to get a long screw driver, put the handle end to your ear and then the other end on the rocker cover (whilst the car is running), directly above where each of the lifters are positioned, and check all 16 to see if some are louder than others (you'll hear the tapping very clearly with the screwdriver). I moved my lifters around in the head, and the noise moved with them. Other than that, could be a cam bearing, or worst of all it could be a valve tapping on the top of a piston . Is your engine standard?
