    Airflow metering......Explanation.

Can somebody please explain the principle of the Airflow meter as i believe is fitted to the RST and then as i understand it, explain why the Cosworth doesn't have one and how it therefore measures the airflow???

I know there will be plenty of people out there who understand this stuff.......

    Cheers

    Re: Airflow metering......Explanation.

The airflow meter in simplistic terms is a flap that blocks the airway and opens with the suction the engine creates.
The flap is on the end of a lever which in turn opens up the fuel valves wider thus allowing more fuel to flow to the injectors, so the wider it opens the more fuel the car gets.

The Webber Marrelli system as fitted to most of the cosworth range is fully electronic and estimates air flow depending on how much pressure is in the inlet plenum and at what tempature the air is at, then it will send a timed pulse of a certian duration to the injectors.

Hope this helps if you want more or dont understand still just say
