escort wheels on 3 door

I fitted 8x16 escort cos wheels on my 3 door ages ago, and i,m using 215/40 tyres on the front, the steering does,nt feel as nice as it did with the original wheels & tyres, i suppose because the offset on the escort wheels is different, so i was thinking of fitting the similar 7x16 mondeo wheels on the front,has anyone tried these and were they an improvement, and finally where can i get 2 from ?.

If your going to change them id do all 4, the esc cos ones are dished (i think) and the mondeos arent, just think it would look a bit weird with one lot on the front and one on the back

I,ve seen a saff with this combination and it did,nt look too terrible, the whole point of fitting the 8 inch rims was to fill out the rear arches a bit, but thanks for your opinion anyway Slim,I suppose the correct way to do it would be to fit adjustable top mounts, or track control arms so i could alter the camber to suit the new offset.

I dont think thats your problem.
I have run escort wheels before on Sharons 3 door with no issues.
However I would get you car 4 wheel aligned because what bigger wheels will do is exaggerate and misalignment !

Have you polybushed the front up if not do this before the alignment

Yes i,ve got the bushes inner and outer on the t.c.a,s and on the a.r.b, to the body as well, also got a saff front a.r.b, fitted, i have some grp N strut top mounts as well but have,nt got around to fitting them yet, now you mention it, the car used to scrub the inside edges on the original tyres aswell, but i thought they all did that ?, its ages since i tried to get the tracking checked, but i think there was a problem doing it due to the bumper being low, so i guess the 4 wheel alignement is the way to go after fitting the new top mounts, The offset between the original wheels and the Escort ones is different and i thought this would be a factor due to the centre line of the rim being in a different position,
