What curb ;-)
Re: Mk2 Golf Gti
Never liked them until Elaine's son got an 8V, and he treated it really bad, never serviced it thrashed it from cold and it lasted 2 years until the gearbox broke.
He then got a 16V and treats it just as bad and 2 years later its still going although its a bit rattly from cold.
So I'm impressed with them, but still don't like the dash.
Just watch out for them letting in water, most seems to suffer from it.

I love to crap
Re: Mk2 Golf Gti
my mate had one and put a 16v in it, it was mega-quick.
it leaked water in the windscreen and sun-roof, and the rear calipers seized (meaning no handbrake and MOT failure), they were £200 each so he had to give the car away! also the elecs and relays used to play up (meaning it wouldnt start), and they are a piece of piss to break into, even with those armor door guard things fitted.
they are pretty decent cars, but have their foibles like any car. Audi 80's of this era are a lot lot better.

Re: Mk2 Golf Gti
Had a look at one, Oak Green 16V on a H.
very good nick, all original panels etc. mint interior blah blah blah.
Took it out for a drive and the Orion would of left it standing so that aint no good.
