I've never heard of them personally Marshall, so can't comment.
What bits are you after exactley, and what prices have u been quoted for them from this place?
Wes I'm after the full monty! I was priced at $5,000 U.K.! This included complete running gear. I was more or less look'n for a company that was will'n to work with me to ship the parts to the states.
After about 5 years of work'n on my bird I finally got her interested in cars(well somthing other then a mini or a mg). So I will need a 4x4 running gear also, as her choice was a scort. I found a company thats bring the shells into Canada as kit cars. I'm not really try'n to build her a rocket so I think that anything in the 300bhp range will work just fine for her.
At the least I will need 2 of everything engine related to do both cars.
bloody hell it would be cheaper to buy a whole car then get a friend to ship it over telling customs its 1/4 of the value it is (save on the 20% import tax )
might be alot easier to source a complete escort cossie from germany (they are left hand drive ) and get it shipped over, you can pick up LHD cossies over here quite cheaply, i saw 2 for £8k about a year ago!
Did you mean £5k for the complete drivetrain or $5k ?? and did that include shipping?
we have used them for a couple of things and they delivered within 2 days...so not bad service.......they dont get any bad reports off the RS owners board which they advertise on
we got an ally radiator and an RS500 sized extruded square core intercooler of them
Your right about it being cheaper to buy a car over there. I would'nt have a problem with a right hand drive car also. The problem is that the tree huggers over here have it set up so that I can not bring 1 over for more then 4 to 6 month's! Then it must go back or be crushed. I would rather crush a testie in a vice then destroy 1 of those cars.
The company that is bring'n em N from Germany wants $40,000 U.S. for em'!
So I'm left with doing it the hard way. I'm sure that U don't understand that I look at Cossie Fords in the same way that most peeps look at Lamborghini's. So I'm put'n togeather a shop'n list. I'm go'n to be ask'n ?'s about specs as soon as my legal troubles are over.
I have seen a few pictures of these guys bringing in 2 or 3 car transporters full of cossies,(only seen saphs and I think 1 3dr tho',not seen any escys). They were all lhd as well,as they must have come from the continent.Might be worth asking about that. Also there are sometimes lhd ones on the RSOC BB for sale for a lot less than rhd cars.I think there is one one there at the moment for about £7500.
Here's the thread ...

YFM
What does that mean??YFM
Cheers, Yodi
i can say that this company are the billy bollocks better than some so called rs places that are shit
these guys are selling the goods at the right price and have got some homemade stuff that is the nuts(8 inj inlets)
i would recomend them every time they also know the tech stuff aswell
enough said use them
Har HAR HAR.....I GOT A COSSIE AND YOU DONT!!! Just Kidding. But if u wanna see a real one, come to Dallas in July. C'mon, the Merkur engine ain't that bad, esp now with the Alu head. Dude, u can make more HP with the Merkur engine and it'll be cheaper than importing a Cossie.
Dude, u cant import a Cossie car into America using the 6 month rule thing IF you're American, as I was told by US Customs. That's only for foreigners. You can bring one for trade & display (max 6mths) if you can convince Customs you're a trader.
You CAN import a Escort Cosworth yourself and get Sun International to certify it for $4500...much cheaper than buying one from them for $40k.
Or maybe I can sell you mine when I get to America?? NOT Yeah, say Hi to Andy & Ian for me. They're cool and he's sent stuff like that to America before. Just be careful when Customs starts asking you what it's for.
Mo
Yodi, you still work down at NL Motorsport?

Matt
I run my own mobile valeting business but I also help out Andy and Ian.
Is there anything I can help you with??

Cant comment as I dont know the people involved... But it certainly makes an interesting read.
I was warned away from them months ago by people in the know. This sadly doesn't surprise me at all.
Some overly agitated people though on PF.
Eeeekkk just read the last post by James Craig
Right, ill post here too.
Just for the record, I dont work for NL I never have. I buy parts from them and sell them on. Im happy being self employed as a car valeter.
For anyone wanting to speak/see And he will be at the garage tomorow (sat)
Hope that helps, Yodi
What is going on there? It looks like to me its a bit of rivalry (spl) between RS parts dealers?? May be wrong?
Whats Spl steve?
Yodz
short for spelling he didn`t if he spelt riveraly correctly, not sure i did either lol.
I'm shocked by some of the comments! I've known Ian for a long time and I just can't believe he would knowingly sell on stolen goods. He would always go out of his way to do something properly. I've been with him to Bournmouth to pick up gearboxes, to Lincoln to pick up ZVH conversions. He's well known to ppl like Ian Howell and Mark Shead and has always been on the end of a phone offering advice. I can't comment about Andy or anyone else because I don't really know him/them, but I can certainly back up Ian...he's a family man who's trying to earn a decent living...not some snotty teenager taking advantage of anyone with little or no knowledge of RS tuning. As someone said earlier, it sounds like someone's got an axe to grind.
From that - maybe Ian doesn't know (if there is anything to know). It's not unheard of one partner not knowing what the other is doing.
One things for sure - we will never know.
I'm off to watch Dr Know.
Always possible, but what axe is there to grind if they are shutting up shop? - As per Pete & Yodi's posts. As someone said earlier, it sounds like someone's got an axe to grind.
If they are shutting up shop then writing idle threats on a BB is just a complete waste of time and would make no odds. I always say, there is no smoke without fire.
well i have said it before and say it again i have found them ok
and they have got me out the shite at short notice and there prices are always ok, and i have seen there cars coming in
ex rally cars etc from cyprus, thats my view for what its worth
So whats the score now Yodi?
The score is that Andy has now registered on Passion so i dont need to do any dirty work for him. He can answer all the questions himself.
Hows the RC car??
Yodz
I was just wondering as I used to go there a lot. As for the car I dont know mate? I didnt buy it off you
