    Rock Hard Tyres

I have had the same set of tyres on my car for almost 10 years now and they seem to have gone from not having too much grip when new to having even less now.

They still look like new only having a done a few 1000 miles (don't get out much these days), but I think they will have to be changed as it's going to catch me out at some point.

Does anyone know of anything that might rejuvinate their grip. I seem to remember years ago you could buy stuff to make tyres grippier, think the production saloon car boys used to use it to make their "production tyres" a bit grippier.

    Any advice from anyone.

Failing that does anyone have any reccomendations for a 175/70 x 13 "performance" tyre. The obvious choice is a Yokohama but I can't seem to find tyres in that size.

Just had a search and these came up Yokohama XVS 175/60 x 13 but most companies seem to make them still.

I personally have found yokahamas to be too soft a compound.Have you tried the smaller tyre firms locally, rather than national firms??

not sure if these are the yokos you lot are on about, but they have carbon kevlar sidewalls so they dont collapse or flex when conering. hope it helps.

I think those are Avon tyres, aimed at trackday use, and pretty poo in the wet.

No its not my car, i wouldn't mind it. yea its a jps edition europa that some bloke decided to modify for racing, diffusers, esprit turbo sideskirts, big elise style vent in the bonnet, etc. I think it did something like 140mph which is pretty damn fast for a car of its age. And the bloke was selling it for about £8k i think, hes probably still got it.

    Re: Rock Hard Tyres

The Europa (lotus 47) pics are inspired! I grew up with one of them in the driveway. I havn't seen a pic of one in ages I think they are one of the most interesting cars ever. Fibreglass monocoque and the crazy thing had a twin cam engine and a renault transaxle! My Dad had his in road trim and struggled to keep it going. The guy who bought it came back one day to show off with it in full race trim. Oh my god it was gorgeous, big wide split rims and absolutely on the floor. They still get very good money despite being made of next to nothing! absolutely lovely
