Yeah it seams to be resolved with one supplier. i had a big problem with magnicor today though! The products are fantastic but when the go wrong the manager/owner of magnicor doesn't half get on his high horse and basically said that i fitted the leads wrong and that is why the clip broke. On the fact that one has never broken before.
dear oh dear, hope you get that sorted freddy mate.
Will you be doing under wing kevlar guards same as the Den Motorsport ones ?
can you show me a pic please Huxley
Went to see a god mate of mine last night who has a few rally cars, one of which is a lovely Honda Civic Type are, fully prepped shell with uprated engine mods, sequential quiaffe gearbon etc etc, very nice little toy. Freshly painted and now scuffed after its first rally. I did a custom dash for him with a shade of green to match his existing green scheme (he is obsessed with Kermit the frog) also a carbon fibre centre panel with the geartick hole smoothed out due to being redundant with the new sequential setup.
Also made a custom carbon switch panel. The dash was done over a year ago and still look great today.
Need to find a Den escort snd take a pic, I'll see what I can do
A customer purchased a so called carbon roof scoop some time ago whihs he is not happy with and asked if I could replicate it using my methods. Upon receiving this item I was shocked at the quality or lack of. This is your ypical wet lay products, one layer of carbonfibre and the rest is just pigmented chopped strand fibreglass. Cost to produce this would be around £20 plus top coat!!! but people are selling the whole scoop at as much as up to £300.
Here is a efw pics of the part which I will be replicating
Doesnt look too bad here
Check out the mily finish of the polyester resin under the top coat
Air bubbles under the top coat
Larger bubbles
And now for the worst pic, this just goes to show dont accept anything as carbon fibre when it looks like this on the back is IT IS NOT CARBON FIBRE
HI, have you a price on these roof vents ? Thanks
@ajpmsport - Im not too sure but I would like to aim for a price of £220.00 delivered, all depends on time v materials etc. Hopefully have the first one made in the next few weeks
Had a busy day yesterday, been working on a large order for a customer which involved a lot of reso work, but I really interested in it as after some discussion we have decided to incorporate some new mouldings and some carbon dress up parts for the interior. The car in question is an ex concourse series one turbo which has now been modified with the owner wanting to update the interior. There is a lot of repair work being done before flocking and parts of the door cards require moulding to make the custom carbon parts.
An example of the parts which need repairing
Started glassing up a custom triple guage holder to be bonded and smoothed into the stereo slot
At the same time I have been also working on a custom track orientated dash for a mk1 fiesta. The customer wants the existing vents filling and smoothed, also the glove box is required to be bonded shut as it is now redundant.
Glove box door bonded shut with flexible pu adhesive
Vents glassed up
Final abs/polyprop compatible compound ready for smoothing
Another job which came in was again some resto work on an escort mk2 dash which has the usual surface cracks
Finally managed top knock up a mould for a few mates to make carbon fibre sill panels for the fiesta st.
All in all a productive week so far.
Cheers
How much to flock a escort mk1 dash its fibre a glass one so no cracks

Been extremely busy of late and neglecting update pics, but managed to get a few of the replacement roof vent. A few posts above you will see a roof scoop I received from a customer which they were not happy with, not only was it made from fibreglass but it was also not UV stable which has caused the resin to turn opaque. I have now produced a mould and remade this using the correct materials fit for purpose, here are a few pics from start to finish.
Mould ready for a quick polish
As the car this is being fitted to reaches speed of up to 184+ this needed to be a lot stronger than normal so a core material was introduced into the stack to aid strength and rigidity
Very nice work would you mind explaining the proses in a bit more detail , is the resin injected after it's vacuumed ? Or before then vacuumed , are the layers layed in opposite directions for added strength or does it not make much difference I've always followed you posts with interest so thanks for taking the time to share with us all you skills regards adam
Morning Adam
I produce my composites via resin infusion so the fabric/stack is laid up dry, then subjected to vacuum and finally in fused. This part had a core material for added strength, edges where stresses will occur had extra fabric laid up in 45 degree rotations. Bit overkill for this but good practice. If you look at the photo's above you can see the rotations.
Hope this helps
been a bit slack with updates of late due to be totally swamped with work especially as its central weekend at santa pod, had a mad rush to get a lot of parts ready to drop off for customers this weekend, here is a one of a kind (afaik) carbon/aramid roof with flocked internal side for a track fiesta which belongs to a good customer/friend.
Mould released and ready for the stack to be laid up
Starting to build up the stack, the first layer is critical in terms of presentation so this has to be placed carefully
Next key part of the stack if the carbon and aramid layer
And the stack is now complete
Flow media
Flow and vac lines
Vac bag
Infusion
Straight out of the mould
Now all trimmed up and give a machine polish. Please note there is no lacquer/top coat on this, the shine is all down to the quality of the mould and the effort taking in producing the mould.
No the inside has been flocked in rix grey so when fitted will look a lot more presentable and add a form of sound deadening without adding weight, first one if ever seen/done afaik
Thanks for looking
Shit me bud that looks a nice bit of kit hats of to ya
Not updated for a while as just totally nowed under as usual, plus got a track day next week and my race car is no where near ready so long nights ahead. Had some nice pics sent in to me from customers though, here is a few pics of the carbon kevlar roof I made just resting on the car to test fitment, looks great.
Another customer wanted a new roof vent making as his had gone milky and opaque from no uv protectyion and being made from polyester resin. I remade the vent and also directed the weave the same way as his existing carbon roof, turned out a treat
well its been a while since I last updated, been mad busy as usual, had a nice little job in for Wiraxr2 which is coming along nicely, as he has been very patient and allowed me to drag this job out as a result of other commitments I thought it was only fair to do a bit extra for him, in this case some nice custom door cards which are to incorporate infused carbon fibre inserts. This is a long winded task to get the finish required but an enjoyable one none the less, here are some pics for anyone interested.
Standard door card
Now to cut the existing insert out
First plugs to get the process started
Here is the first mould which will allow me to produce grp inserts which can then be polished to a fine shine which in turn can be remoulded.
Here are the fibreglass parts made from the first mould which have been flatted and polished and prepped ready to be remoulded
And now the tooling gelcoat
Well another small update, whilst working on the carbon insert moulds I have managed to complete all the black parts of this custom xr2 interior.
Here is the 2 tone clock dismantled
The heater controls had to have the plastic welds drilled out to allow them to be removed
Now it was time to prep, key and primer the parts ready for mounting onto the jigs ready for flocking
Here are some images of the flocked parts, im really please with the custom triple gauge holder which has been hand crafted and smoothed in. I think its turned out nice, sorry about the quality of the pics but my phone seems to be struggling to focus
I have also been busy on with making my own roof scoop, I have now finished the outer skin mould and have sculpted the inner shell to house 2 vents and a drain.
holes sized and drilled symetrically
Drain location
sealed and released
and here is the part made from the first mould
Now i have to start prepping the surface ready for the final mould. Managed to get a nice shine out of it
Thanks for looking
