They already have my fully charged GoPro. Going to video all the power runs.....
A thing of beauty Billy!

I did wonder what was going on with this car! Looking as good as ever even with no engine lol looking forward to hearing that thing let rip!
Dyno finished !
266bhp & 180lbs
She runs out of air in the top end. Paul reckons with bigger valves, cams & more compression ( approx. 15:1 ) she'll hit 290bhp. Maybe that'll be evolution # 3 !!
For now, I'm happy !
** video to come **
impressive results. congrats man
brilliant bet it sounds awesome
Brilliant thread. Just read it all from start to end and really impressed by the level of quality! Keep up the good work
quite possibly one of the best twincams in the world the car is a credit to ya bud.
Well, it turns out the original pilot bearing adapter I got from Leen doesn't fit the new crank as the center bore hole in the new crank is too small.
After a bit of thinking & paper scratching we did this. Thankfully I can cross this on off the list. Clutch & flywheel now on with the bearings pressed into the adapter. Made 2 just in case....
The 2nd hurdle I had before I could start putting the engine back in was the alternator bracket to the block. When I removed the engine I found it had split in half so I had to make a new one. Finished roughly today. Still needs filing, sanding & painting. Will be on for the last time tonight.
looking great buddy, bet you cant wait to fire it up
hi billy engine looks sweet sat in the car, looking closer at your ex man it seems to have anti reversion ,is it a 4 into one or 4-2-1.cheers mick
Hi Mick,
Correct, they're anti-reversion chambers in the primaries & It's a 4-2-1 manifold.
Looking great Billy! Absolutely the best AE86 in the world. It must be!

Thankfully the only problem was a leaky coolant switch. Nipped it up and all good now....

well done that sounds really crisp,
Looking Ace Billy
i take it you had to clean the dust from the tyres before you took some pics ha ha.
With the weather been the way it is here ( pissy ) I've only been able to drive it 2.5 miles. 0.5 road test, 1.0 to the photoshoot & 1.0 back to the shop !!
New garage floor before I bring her home. Primer coat down, top coat tomorrow. Then I'll take down the shitty brown cabinet and go crazy with lights. After the lights I'm putting in a lift....
Finally got her home !! Took 55 minutes to go 14 miles !! Barely got it above 3,000rpm. The most disappointing drive home ever.
Ready for Cars n Coffee this Saturday. Can't wait for the drive.....
Fuppin' alternator !!
Now finally up to date:
Went out for a drive on Saturday with some friends who drive some pretty special cars & she more than held her own !
Surprisingly, on the straights I was able to stay with but not pass a Ferrari 458, McLaren MP4-12C & a Corvette Z06 with a cam & headers.
Easily dusted off a couple of 360 Challenge Stradales & a couple of early generation Gallardos. Facial expressions were priceless !
Got her to touch 130 & felt very uneasy on the bumps, brown pants moment......
Top drawer as usual. Bet you could have bought a Ferrari with the money spent on the Corolla ! I know which would have though and it ain't Italian 👍
Cheers Wildo ! To be honest, I wouldn't choose the Ital either.... It's just so much slower...
Haven't driven it in quite some time though. Just got finished putting 15x10s in the back with 225/50 R888s.
Everyone I spoke with said I couldn't fit them with standard arches. I measured it all out & determined I could. Sent the rears to Eric Vaughn machine & had him widen the wheels inward 2". Perfecto. Love the look and you can't really tell there is something wide on the back until you really look.
The shock mount sits mostly inside the wheel
Also treated myself to a set of Titanium 12 point wheel bolts.
Haven't posted here in a long time.
Went to Thunderhill Raceway for a 2 day event & had a very disappointing ending !
pulled out of the pits on day 1, session 1 for lap 1 & bang ! Broken right side half shaft. BASTARD.
Back on the trailer by 10am, 2nd Corona by 10:30am !!! & drove home. Couldn't believe it. I knew I was on borrowed time with the standard shafts but I just wished they lasted 2 more days !! Next time......
Starting off 2017 with a bang. Lots of disassembly & new parts. Lots of carbon panels on the way, she's going on a major diet ! Since I'm not a huge fan of naked unpainted carbon it'll be done with a bit of a twist, stand by for for a type of paint finish over carbon only seen on Pagani, Bugatti & McLaren so far. Every bolt off removable panel will be carbon, considering roof and 1/4s as well but that will have to wait for now.
The goal is no fewer than 6 tack days this year without a single DNF, we'll see !
Hi Billy, these people make off the shelf AE86 Ohlins stuff and a really nice geabox too:

Wildo, I know !! To be fair, there was only was way it was ever going to end...... The front lift kit is to raise the front end with an in cabin button to clear obstacles etc...
Thanks mjr, that's a good link to have.
Your car is simply stunning.
Stickier tyres were always going to show the next weakest link I'm amazed it lasted that long.
Have you got anything in mind for a rear end upgrade?
Looking forward to future updates.

Cheers Shaun,
Ya, I'm waiting a set of custom axle shafts and a new diff. The shafts are 4mm bigger in diameter with the diff gears machined to match. Should be ready in another week or so.
