    4x4 cosworth 330/340 bhp conversion

Im considering going for stage 2 power on the 4x4.The car is standard apart from a stage 1 chip,s/s exhaust,d/v.Ive seen a 330bhp kit advertised for £440,would this be any good.I have access to garage facility.Iam aware that the turbo will need converting to hybrid spec, but what kind of boost will it need for 330/340,and how do you know where to set the actuator.Thanks.

If you are upgrading to stage 2, it would normally be said that you might as well go to stage three as there's not much more involved but there's a lot more benefit! (Bigger 's)

The only tools you'll need is a 10mm spanner to take the fuel rail off and a pair of pliers to pull the injector clips off with and a philips screwdriver to take the ecu apart.

Swap the injectors for new ones (light blues i think for stage 2, Dark greens (803's) for stage three. Your standard turbo will be fine for 330bhp, but will be at it's upper limits and cannot go any further. The ammount of boost you run will depend on your chip, you should plum a quality boost gauge in to measure your adjustments. I think it will be around the 25psi mark for 330.

The problem you will have is that 3-bar map sensors are no longer available as Weber's testing machine has broken so they are no longer able to supply them. I don't know if you'll need to upgrade you map sensor for a stage 2 but you definitely do for stage 3. This is the area though where it potentially will start to cost you a lot more money than going stage 2.

    HTH's

BTW - the conversion should take about 1 hour to do, depending on how much tweaking of the actuator is required.

Don't bother with a stage 2 the upgared over a stage 1 is very minimal and not worth it....get a stage 3.

A stage 2 runs around 18 psi and 300bhp ish where the stage 3 is around 23 and 330bhp ish.

Only get the kit if its from a well know tuner!

17 psi is tooooo high 4 stage 1 , your motor will be running lean as hell at full chat , better wind that boost back to 1 bar (14/15 psi) before you melt those pistons big style !!!!

Not if you have adequate fuelling for the boost level, depends on how it's mapped

Swap the injectors for new ones (light blues i think for stage 2,
You mean light greens - 355's Light blues - 400's are for nearer 400bhp. Hope you are well Hugh, see you soon

I'd also fit an uprated head gasket and breather for stage three.

    Regards

    Bill
Edited to add 'uprated' next to headgasket, to be clear
