Vauxhall Astra GLS I 1.6 5dr Hatchback
Hi Guys
I hope you can help?. I have just had my car in to give it a once over, the mechanic who had a look informs me that the track rod end is wearing and the outer on boot is wearing. To be honest I have no clue what he means and when I ask him to explain he is very evasive and keeps informing me that this type of work needs to be done by a professional. What I want to know is this true? Can I not do this myself? Is the procudure hard to complete?
I would really appreciate any advice you can give me
Thanks
Martin

Have a look at this site for a blow by blow account of how to change a CV joint gaiter. Click on Maintenance, Mechanical Maintenence and Replacing a CV boot.
Track rod ends are easy, you just need a proper ball joint splitter, which you can hire from local hire shop. And a trip to the tyre fitters to get the tracking checked afterwards.
