Crysler Voyager and 4 Kids think some mobile entertainment is in order so would like to do the following:

Play DVD's and Games have at least 2 screens in the back and one in the front, BUT havnt got a fortune to do it any ideas on a nice budget system ?

1 bigger screen in the back might be ok

    Re: Ideas Please

clinty boy you dont do nothing on a budget, even knowing as little as i do, i know there aint gonna be nothing used that isnt the best of gear so just quit with the budget malarky

if you are wanting to play dvds and games, have two screens in the back and one in the front, your also gonna need obviously a head unit probably uprated speakers and headphones for the screens in back, a console and possible seperate dvd player, i would say alpine are your guys but youre lookin at the following

    tv head unit...600 to 1000

    rear screens...200 to 400 each

ps2, gamecube or xbox and 12 volt power regulator...200 to 250

optional seperate in-car dvd player 200 upwards

speakers and headfones budget 200 quid...high quality 350 upwards

all cabling and extras 200 quid

id say round about 2000, but i could be way off

    have fun

and keep us updated on all developments

I agree with an estatement, it's expensive and increadibly hard to justify unless you are rolling in it.

    Re: Ideas Please

OK heres what I have found so far:

Playstation 2 or X Box 129 ish (both I understand already play DVD's

5.5" screens with AV in 100 each

    AV 4 way Splitter 45

IR Headphone Amp and 4 sets of headphones so as to not to annoy us 100

Use AV in on existing stereo for when scooby doo is on

Inverter 12 input Computer UPS secondhand 75

    Sounds quite cool.

I could also use that linux thing and some wireless technology to browse the internet from the drive

    Any more ideas ?

    Re: Ideas Please

word of warning with xbox, unlike the ps2 the xbox NEEDS a plugin and dvd remote before it will accept a dvd whereas the ps2 plays them from the box

Badly, and on some DVD's, only in green. The thing is, your already upto 550 without the cabling & connectors, installation materials, the cost of your time you will spend fitting etc and the cheap screens I've heard aren't all that great.

The question you need to ask first is do you spend enough time in the car to need it in the first place?

Gameboy Advances can be linked together and are a lot cheaper!

    Re: Ideas Please

you can get a 12v adaptor that fits inside the ps2 replacing the factory power circuit from www.bigcattech.co.uk , it lets you just plug straight into your ciggy lighter or directly on to the 12v circuit in your mota

    68 quid inc delivery

and also note that the ps2 is more versatile than the xbox as it can be mounted upright e.g. fixed to the side wall of your luggage space, minimising the amount of space usage and maximising your kids enjoyment cos the xbox is poo

try some of these places you might get some decent deals

    Re: Ideas Please

I used to think it was ok, but then I got a Toshiba SD220e and realised what a difference there was. The sound and picture quality is much better.

It doesn't fit in the glovebox as well though

    Re: Ideas Please

Clint Try having a word with your Ripsped/Halfords peeps. I got an Alpine TV unit (the motorised one that pops outta the H/unit) with built in CD player for 500. The 6.5" screen are about 100 each (although Auto Dynamics were knocking them out at 80 a while back). I got an invertor from a camping shop for 40 and as loadsa peeps have said the PS2 is fine and dandy for running DVDs. Mines never jumped/skipped/thrown a wobbler yet !!
