Hi all,
I just recently acquired a Mazda MZR 2.0L L series engine and 6 speed manual gearbox from a 2007 MX5 that i want to fit to my Mk1 Escort.
A few weeks ago i got a wet sump, engine mounts and lowered rack cross member to fit the engine. (retroford stuff)
I was wondering if anyone has used this engine before in an escort, I thought that there were very few differences between the Mazda L engine and the Duratec, but now that i have the motor i am seeing a few more,
first thing i noticed is that the mazda motor has a dipstick that passes through the rocker cover, head, block and finally into the sump. Also the Mazda motor has VVT but i already new this one,
Obviously there is the angle that the mx5 runs the motor at, but i dont think this will be a drama at all.
Any information anyone can provide would be fantastic!
Cheers
Raenier
