scott
got the parcel
cheers buddy
Went down the grage today to check on my S1....
they've got it painted now and it's actually looking quite good.... not lon gnow with any luck... onlyu one concern though... where they've done a repair by one of the sills, they've put filler over it and it looks slightly concave.. i know you won't see it with the kit on but it just looks a bit iffy.
I'm assured that there's metal undedrneath it and it's all strong etc etc...but i just don't know... anyone got any thoughts?
There's another garage i use regularly - do you reckon i shoul dget their opinion on it when i get it back or shall i just have a word right now???
Cheers,
Mark.

Hi Moza!!!!
When you get time pop over to www.passionford.com as well
i sent you a couple of e mailsYou lot kept this quiet i show you my arse in return
Nige,
I have ordered a load of bits from Think Automotive for the hoses!
I might be able to have brakes soon!
daz
good luck....youll need it lol
With making the pipes or getting them to bleed up afterwards?
it depends
making the pipes was fairly easy
dpending how large on the calipers front/rear you go depends on if you get a peddle
I thought you meant bleeding it up.......i know!! I will have to see what happens but i aim to be ready to bleed the brakes within 2 weeks (only work on the car at weekends).
We shall see what happens anyway. I got a phone call to say my other bottom arm is in stock at TAS.....finally!
That means that IF the brakes bleed up ok i am ready to build the engine!!
So all i have left to do is
Engine
Box
Alarm siren
Repair engine loom for KE and dizzy etc
Fit glove box
Fit speaker kick panels in the foot wells
Connect up fuel lines and fuel pump
Fit fuel filter
Fit radiator and intercooler.
Not long off now! End of the year probably!
Guys i need a favour, i am in desperate need of a genuine Towing eye cover, i have a copy but i would like to get another original one, as my old one was smashed by a suicidal pheasant.
Anyone??????
Can't help with a genuine one Scott unfortunately!
scott

it might help you
scott,daz etc..

just spoke to moza,he has got his booked and ive just done mine
i want to go, but havent you got to know someone who is entering, to get access???
Nigel cheers mate, You have mail back.
dont think soi want to go, but havent you got to know someone who is entering, to get access???
try this for tickets
here
I don't have any plans to go as yet but that might change.....i probably wont as i want to concentrate on the S1 with all my money.
Will be attending National day without a doubt though!
Update:
Inner wing stripped to bare metal 3 small rust spots which came out with a little sandblasting, the inner wing is mint some S1's that age need new inner wing tops as you can see from the pics this didnt.
Next i etch primed the inner wing thats why its yellow but see through you just dust etch on not cover the metal like other primers.
After the etch i put 3 coats of a zinc based primer then stone chip.
My latest purchase

Looking good Moza!!
Cheers anyway Mark.
Looking sweeeeeeeeeeet Moza!!!
I have just joined Passionford on Bizbaz's recomendation, its pretty good, seen a few you on there.
My metering unit is on its way and I have just found a -31, just need to find a rad now, and I could be back on the road at the latest the end of the month.
Just one question what battey should I use if I am running an amp? should I get a diesel one?
The battery I have at the mo is brand new and is supposed to be heavy duty but was cheap, anyway it doesn't seem strong enough to run the car and an amp, does anyone rate Halfords?
CheeRS Ladz
Halfords? No to be honest. I send people there i don't like!
You need an '097' battery....600 cold cranking amps. That is the biggest square post battery available.
thats the size battery i use on my FRST ans my S1Halfords? No to be honest. I send people there i don't like!

both from halfords though but you get a 4 year warranty
ac delco are meant to be a very good brand
The batteries from Halfords should be ok but Redkop got one from Halfords for her fezzy runaround and it was duff (kept going flat).....they tested it and said it was ok and gave her a new one anyway....her car has never had a problem since (battery wise), and they blatantly told her they would put the duff battery that they said was ok back on the shelf and sell it to someone else!!
Just be wary, your local branch might be ok though. I wouldn't trust them to work on anything though!......I get Bosch batteries which we have virtually nil warranty claims with and we fit in excess of 1000 a year for £25 097 type!
the rubber hose that goes between the fuel filler and the petrol tank is no longer available
Batteries are very important up here in the winter and the Bosch silver is very good and affordable. You can fit in a 72 or a 75 Ah Bosch battery without any modifications. I also warmly recommend going to the cylindrical pole type as it has a much better contact. Also the Escort Diesel battery is a straight swap and I think it is rated at 72 Ah usually.
Daz - just out of interest, I remember a lot of stuff I read before about split charging systems... do you know when this becomes necessary or doesn't it?
(Only out of interest! I have no intention of slowing down my car with sounds etc!!)
Cheers<
Mark.
Cheerz fellas! Been a big help!
Daz- if I get stuck finding something decent, could I order one of those Bosch 097's from you? Sounds reasonably priced for a Bosch.
CheeRS
Absolutely agree with all of that, but it's not really nessesary in this country to go to the round posts except it is easier to get round terminals for the cables when they break.Batteries are very important up here in the winter and the Bosch silver is very good and affordable. When you load up your alternator to the point where it cannot cope with the draw from BOTH the batteries (which is why you would have split charging, to split the charge between the 2 batteries).Daz - just out of interest, I remember a lot of stuff I read before about split charging systems... do you know when this becomes necessary or doesn't it?

It is a good price! They are normally about £60 fo that one from Bosch. Damn good battery though.Daz- if I get stuck finding something decent, could I order one of those Bosch 097's from you? Sounds reasonably priced for a Bosch.
you could have on off me but then there is a small problem.....how are you going to get it? Cos i can't post it!!!!!
Cheers EDaz, figured it would be somethign like that!
Morning guys, on my mates s1 his fuel relay goes into a rectangular black box under the right hand side of the dash behind the little tray thing. on mine it goes into a silver box with another small plug in it? any ideas on what this is as it appears to be buggering up? i will drive along happily for days then my fuel pump cuts out. i get this silver box take the plugs out put them back in, my fuel pump comes back on and im ok again?
I had this on mine, unplug the silver relay, remove the silver casing, and re-solder all the points inside it, it doesn't take long, it sounds like you have a loose terminal thats all.
cheers telbo il do that, whats the difference between the two systems though?
Never heard of that before m8, mine has just got the fuel pump relay which is positioned next to a black ignition relay.
Daz- good point m8 didn't think of that, the postage would probably be about a grand, oh well nevermind.
its a genuine ford bit i just dont know why its there and my pump wont work if i swap this silver box with the usual black relay?? If anyone can help im currently after: drivers side wing mirror glass, drivers side door(needs to be mint though!) and a good condition Dash. Also some little bastards smashed my windscreen over the weekend am i right in thinking its a special one for the r.s's?
Yeah don't try and swap them round m8, that definatley won't work, but if you resolder the silver one like I said, you shouldn't have any more problems with it, also check the earth from the relay to the body as mine was all rusty and horrible.
I am ordering a new rad for mine today, its only going to be £80 not bad ah considering a decent second hand one is £40-£50.
Won't be long and I will be able to start putting her back together.
i might be able to get ya one a bit cheaper if ur prepared to wait mate? Ive just got the two front TCA's for mine for £11 each! Il get me soldering iron out tonight and drop a bit in it cheers.
