Re: S1 Thread.........
LOL at threedoorboy,
Smundo - take it that it wasn't Fords then? lol!
I have got a nice set of Hella's at home, just no brackets
I bet Ford want £80,000 for them alone
-
Re: S1 Thread.........
Defo wasnt fords, got a feeling it was an RS breakers somewhere but they were brand new!
Telbo why dont you sell 3doorboy yours or will u use them?
Then you can just go down the scrappy and pinch the brackets off of an xr2 theres loads of them down there cos there crap!
-
Re: S1 Thread.........
Yeah I defo want to put them on, I keep meaning to go to the breakers, there is a really good one that I always use, but its awkward to get to without a car at the moment,
As soon as I get the S1 back on the road I will go up there, I quite enjoy going there I always find lots of intresting MK3 Stuff.
I was guted once I found a MK3 XR3i with mint door cards, and it had so many cars crushing it on top, you couldn't get into the damn thing.
-
Re: S1 Thread.........
the xr3i door cards are different to the rs ones arent they?
But i know what you mean its like a treasure cave aint it! except i can never remember what bits i need when i go down there!
-
Re: S1 Thread.........
No, I think the 3i came with doorcards with blue or red piping and I am sure the blue piping ones are identical to the S1.
-
Re: S1 Thread.........
Could be. my old 3i had red piping, but i thought the material in the 3i was more plastic than proper material, but im probably wrong on this one lol

Re: S1 Thread.........

Threedoorboy, where did you get the A pillar guage holder from then Nomad???
Not sure about saying the XR2 is crap i use one as my daily driver, its ALOT of fun, it aint fast but it does go sideways with very little effort.

Re: S1 Thread.........
Scott, I got it from demon tweeks. Took a bloody long time to find one that would fit 2 guages. As for the Xr2 my one was pretty quick it had a 4 branch manafold and group N exhaust along with some other stuff . Awsome sound you could hear it coming from about 1/4 mile away. And yep it used to do over 3i's sorry smundo.

Re: S1 Thread.........
Yours was a 3i aswell PMSL
I still have fun with the Nova and saxo gimps, in a straight line they are normally faster but once they get to a corner they all wimp out. Mind you not sure if its because they cant drive or the sight of a XR2 sideways in front of them
-
Re: S1 Thread.........
Nice one!!!!! can't stand Nova's & Saxo's wouldn't mind a nice MK3 3i still as a runaround as I love em, wish I had on my drive my S1, RSi, Mk3 3i and and escy cos that would do me nice

Re: S1 Thread.........
Does anyone know an aerial I can use that doesn't require drilling into the roof/wing.
I like those beesting ones that go on the back window and work by a magnet (I think), just can't seem to find anywhere that sells them

Re: S1 Thread.........
I want to hide my aerial aswell so I was gonna fit one of those aerial amps from the S2
-
Re: S1 Thread.........
What are they? are they hard to fit to an S1?

Re: S1 Thread.........
In an old xr3i i had it had a electrical one that was stuck to the inside of the front screen above the rear view mirror, worked very well. Halfords or Discount Autoparts is probably your best bet.

Re: S1 Thread.........
I would not of thought so as they are standard on S2. They go inside the boot lid (near the central locking motor)
Im off to fords to pick up my new electric window switches and to see if they still do the spots and brackets. BTW the switches were 60.45 inc vat for all 3
-
Re: S1 Thread.........
jesus, i reckon you boys have too much money! 3doorboy pays £60 for some switches and Telbo must have a driveway the length of the M3 with all the cars he wants lol!
the rs500's were rear wheel drive werent they? im gonna cosworth my s1 and i wanna know if they can be 4 wheel driven cos then i get 8 injectors mmmmmm!
-
Re: S1 Thread.........
Is there a cable then which runs from the bootlid to behind the dash? and do you know if the Mk4 3i had the same thing? Over £60.00 I wouldn't pay that for 3 swiches in a million years, would rather find good 2nd hand ones m8.
That really is

Re: S1 Thread.........
The problem with the rear amps on the S2/XR3i is that you will need to get the ariel lead back from the boot, as its a screw fitting one not your standard Ariel, and i also thought that the main Ariel is in the rear screen heater, printed as a circuit next to the other elements?? and all the amp does is boost the signal, i could be wrong on this though.
Besides what do you want an ariel and sound system for, its all extra weight
-
Re: S1 Thread.........
Great thats that out the window then.
Scott do you know of any that can be placed on the back window by a magnet on the inside? My m8 has got one on his mondeo.

Re: S1 Thread.........
No idea mate, the trouble is that there are so many different types on the market. Your best bet like i said before try the local motor factors, as they might stock them.

Eh-oh, me again...
UPDATE ON S1....
Think I may have sold it
Just cannot afford to restore it at present, and need to clear my debts, so she's gotta go
Still, the idea is to sell it, and then buy another one, with a good/solid/no rot shell, but blown engine (so as to keep the cost down. Engines I can deal with, but welding and chassis stuff I can't....
Will let ya know what happens, and am now on the look out for a another S1 (only requirement is it must be virtually std - stuff like s/s system and uprated suspension is okay, but no mechanical engine mods or ANY interior/body mods - must be late '85-C, and be as low mileage/owners as poss)
Anyone knows of one, then I'm your man
