What oil to use in dry sumped S2000 escort install?

Hello all. I'm just wondering what oil people would recommend or what you have used in your dry sumped S2000 escorts. I think standard S2000 is 5w30 but I was recommended 10w50?? So just looking for some second opinions.

    Thanks, Craig

Can I ask this Q too if anyone is out there. Yes 5w30 is recommended by Honda, but if the engine is dry sumped and used for tarmac stage rallying what oil would those in the know reccomend. I do use an oil cooler but the oil does get very hot especially the cap on the dry sump tank. Any info appreciated.

Can't speak from experience but I would surmise that Honda specify a thinner oil for minimal drag on the highly stressed / high rpm components to avoid over-heating. The stock oil capacity with designed air cooled sump keeps oil at optimal temps as it is circulated faster through the system. By increasing capacity, viscosity and friction through pipework and pump scavenge, you are actually causing heat and retaining more of it? I'd suggest that 5/30w should be sufficient (the engine is designed for it after all!) and more cooling would be a benefit as you are holding a greater capacity - cooling oil is harder/slower than cooling water.

You always go abit thicker on a dry sump system
I personally would not use 5/30
In all my years of dry sumping we always used a thicker oil
    All with better results
