MK3 Cortina GXL injection 5 speed

    Cortina 2.0 GXL
Registered 1st Jan 1973 (tax free)
MOT end of October, Tax end of December
Engine and suspension overhaul around two and a half years ago including.
2.0 injection pinto (unleaded)from a low mileage Granada.
All new bearings, rings, seals, valves lapped etc.
Lightened flywheel and alloy front pulley
Piper FR34 sports injection cam kit
    Type 9 5 speed box
Front cradle and all suspension parts sand blasted and sprayed in black smoothrite
    Whole car polybushed
    Gaz adjustable shocks
    Rally design lowering springs
2.8 capri vented disks, 2.8 Granada calipers and braided lines.
all new wheel bearings, ball joints and rod ends
    Ashley exhaust system

    Car has also had
    New vinyl roof
all new window seals and chrome trims
    Sierra cosworth leather recaro seats
Old style dash removed and fitted with later 2000e type dash
Dash and door cappings re-veneered (more like the high gloss finish you got in the MK2 1600e)

The car was painted around three and a half years ago and there are some scabs forming under the paint especially around one of the indicators and on the valances, the bottoms of the rear doors were heavily filled. The car is still very presentable as you can see in the pictures, if I was keeping it I would run it this summer and next before I would think about doing anymore paintwork.
    Bad points
Carpet and door cards not good, door cards are from Mk4 so dont fit rears properly, I think I have the original GXL door cards in ther loft, cant remember what they were like but you can have them.

Bonnet release cable has come out of its clip, its not snapped and still works if you pull the cable rather than the handle, just needs refitting.

Hazzard warning switch is loose under the dash, never got around to extending the wires to use the hazzard switch on the new style dash, just forgot about it to be honest as I never needed to use them.

No washer bottle fitted, the wires and pipes are there, I used to sticky tape it to the inner wing for MOT but again never got around to making a proper bracket for it.

The base of the rear seats is not bolted down, again needs a couple of brackets just never got round to it as never needed the back seats.

In summary this was never intended to be a show car or original example, just a useable classic. With the injection engine its reliable, starts in any weather and is much better on the motorway with the 5 speed box. Cars like this are always a bit of an ongoing project and certainly dont drive like modern cars but if your looking at this then you would know that.

Now for the bit I shouldnt have to say!! (especially for Gumtree buyers)
Heres how buying a car works as some people still cant grasp it..
You look at the car, you give me the cash if you want it, you drive it away.
I will not ship it to Romania and accept Western Union transfers etc.
I will not answer messages such as "Hi m8 whats ur best price?"
If you want one for £500 then go and look at £500 ones
If you want one for £6k then go and look at £6k ones
Its an old modified car so dont send me questions about service history and if it still has the original dust caps.

    £2750 ono
