HELP please. S2 Popping water hoses

Right I have a problem.

My car has just popped another water hose, the one which goes from the rad to the thermosat and also feeds the turbo. This is the second time this has happened in 2 weeks and before that happened, about a week before, it popped the one from the front of the thermostat housing, to the heater matrix.

I bought a brand new one from ford, to go to the heater matrix, but they couldn't find the other one on Microcat (tossers at my local Ford), So I managed to chop about an inch off the end and fit it back on. Has been hunky dory for a week or so but now split.

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

any ideas people? and where can I get another top hose from?

ANY HELP GREATFULLY APPRECIATED

How about swapping the lot for Samcos?

I would if I had the cash m8, dont really wanna shell out £150 for hoses at this moment in time.

Or do ya know of any cheaper?

do a compression check, could be leaking head gasket causing compresion in the water system

just what i was thinking either a blockage somewhere or as the chap said above is your header tank ok change the cap that should vent if excess pressure builds up??????

Yeh Thats a point. see if theres any oil in the water. and try Backflushing the cooling system with a hosepipe an see if any crap comes out. Sorry m8 dont know of any cheapo hoses.

Head gasket.......or sticking header tank cap causing excess pressure build up.

PeterM's car just blew a head gasket at rockingham last week. that affected his water pressure...

maybe that mate ?

take your water cap off. and try starting your engine... if the water goes mental its a head gasket - i think... Jono

the thermostat might be sticking causing to much pressure that side, the place that did my rad told me this can happen and thats why rst's can often split the rad tank on the thermostat side, worth a look.

P.S i have a full set of standard water hoses in excellent cond. pm with an offer if u intrested

OH SHIT

I did notice the other week that once I took the cap off, I had a MASSIVE surge of water out of the header tank (This was after it had cooled off a bit too).

It's not looking rosy

I have ordered a set of Samcos anyway, and am gonna change back to the other thermostat that I changed before Nat Day.

Hmmm, maybe 20psi really is not good for these engines after all
