    MK2 Escort 4 door

    Decided to Start my own thread at long last, So here is my mk2 escort 1100 popular plus in Venetian red.
    Ive had it around two years now. However sadly I haven't driven it at all this year. Now that Ive got a more reliable motor to use daily, Ive decided to put some money into the escort and give it some tlc. The car is pretty much the same as when i bought it, It still has a 1300 crossflow apart from ive added; 4 branch manifold, lowering blocks, stripped interior, rear spoiler, bucket seats.

    The plan is to strip the car right down and start again, Its booked in for a full respray starting September and is being picked up Saturday hopefully to be taken to the paint shop. The crossflow is going to be taken out and replaced with a pinto, approx 170-200bhp. Banded Lotus Steels, drop it right down. colour coded rear and front alloy spoilers. This is the sort of look I'm going for .

    Just need find somewhere to take my lotus steels to get them banded.

    Colour-wise I'm going with either Riviera or Olympic blue, but never seen them in the flesh and don't have a clue where the difference is, anybody have an idea?

    So far i have had alot of trouble trying to complete the pinto conversion,
    had to take the crossmember off as it was skewed and the engine did not sit correctly.
    spent ages trying to wiggle the gearbox spline into the flywheel then relized that i needed a new clutch as the type 9 has 23 splines whereas the original clutch has 20.
    I have had to remove the crossmember to get the engine low enough to bolt the gearbox on. Then did a trail run to see how much the bulkhead interferes by and raised the two up together. looked as though i had about a 2 inch clearance at the top when the bellhousing met the bulkhead.
    Dropped it back down an tried to create the clearance i need using a hammer but no luck, seems like its gonna take for ever.
    is it worth buying the alloy bellhousing or am i gonna be left with the same problem, just cant see how they can be much smaller than the cast ones.??

    Using a alloy bellhousing on my brothers car with a std tunnel modified a slight with a hammer youl have to cut the std gbox mounds off or drill the spot welds and cut part of the tunnel brace if you have a type 9 or rs box

    Just tried to fit the new propshaft and the pcd on the diff flange is 70 mm whereas the new propsha has 90 pcd. Any ideas on best solution would be appreciated ??

    Replace the diff flange there's two sizes large and small.

    Next problem is the fuel pipe has snapped at the tank. I've removed the fitting and the pipe. How do you go about refitting the brass nipple?

    put a new piece in and flare it like you already have, or fit a new connector, pretty sure thats 1/2" x 20 UNF, you can by an adaptor from Torques UNF to AN then AN to hardline if thats how you are piping it.

    thanks Duffer. Ive just ordered a new adaptor from Torques. Ive Measured the thread and thought it was 1/4" bsp though.

    I did go through my eBay purchases and the 1/2" x 20 UNF was what I ordered, but there is another larger adaptor bolted into the tank, if you unbolt that you will find a rather nasty gauze (probably blocked) filter on it, I did away with the whole lot in the end and brazed on a -12 adaptor

    Ahh right. ive left that in. i did try taking the larger adaptor off but gave up. Ill have another go. so are you just running one adaptor now and straight to the hose?

    Just waiting on payday. Then can get some coilovers ordered. Still not sure on Wether to get the rs struts or go with the 1600 ones.
