The top is the return circuit so the temps in theory will be higher as the water will be heated by the engine before it returns to the rad. I took advise from mocal and a friend who works for Caterham that there should be no problems installed in this way, the only reason I went this route it was a lot easier to install.
The rad is from my last st170 engine with the inlet and outlet on the nearside made by Radtec it was very efficient and should be up to the task.
You said you are experiencing low oil and water temps, are you using water flow restrictor that fits into the Laminova and is your water pump ecu controlled.
