Its a lot easier to use the module if starting from scratch, they are also available with the wires and labelled up ready to install

    Re: MK1 Duratec

This weekends progress was a bit hit and miss, the ecu was returned from Omex after a chip upgrade but has now has a map upload problem, so that has put a hold on the planned 1st start

On the upside the water leak is sorted and all primed up, also the fuel lines have been flushed and tested for leaks all good so far.

The EWP80 water pump controller is next on the the too do list, the water flow looks too fast wired up with just a on off switched feed, so my resident wiring expert is on the case and made this.

It's an Arduino Uno micro controller, started off with a 30amp PWM motor board but then changed to a 10amp PWM motor shield to make it smaller
At the moment the code gives out 6v until the temp gets to 90c or above and then ramps up to 12v. It also reads the temperature once every second. The code can be altered too suit different running characteristics and can be calibrated for most two wire sensors

Where did that time go, quick update then.............

The Escort finally made it to Track and Road to be mapped, Steve asked the engine spec and 240 to 250bhp was agreed to be a realistic target, after a few hours the Duratec was run in and then started the power runs.

1st run it made 230+ more mapping and swearing from steve over the cam duration and high compression went to a easy 250bhp and ended up at just under 270bhp with 185lb torque at 8400rpm, it was a still making power at even higher revs but was agreed not to push the engine any further than 8400rpm, well pleased with a engine that I built in the kitchen

At the moment a 46.5 Atlas is in the process of being built to replace the english and is nearly sorted

Does the bottom hose out of the tank run to the fuel filter then injection pump?
And the top hose on tank is the return?
I think I'll run a swirl pot on mine too, do you suffer any lose of pressure?

    Thanks for the positive comments.

Yes the bottom is the feed to a pre filter then to the pump and returns to the upper connection, I did use a swirl pot when I had a std fuel tank but is not required with the Pro Alloy tank this is due to having a internal collector which acts as a swirl pot. Fuel pressure is always constant but I do use a very good regulator.

    Quick Update axle upgrade........

Atlas axle is now fitted replacing the English, built from a 2.0 Capri axle cut down to 46.5 running a rebuilt ZF 3.75 diff, Grp1 18 spline halfshafts from Race and various bits to finish mainly from Gartrac.

    Fwe pics off the build

8x13 fit with no clearance problems tyres at the moment are 205/55/13 Avons should be enough space to run 215s
