8x13 fit with no clearance problems tyres at the moment are 205/55/13 Avons should be enough space to run 215s

It's looking great and well done with the engine, you must be well chuffed with that

Sorry for the stupid question but out of curiosity what are you welding/making in the images above?

I aasumed it was a jig to prevent movement whilst welding in the axle tubes ??

It's a axle spreader to make the diff easy to remove

No jig was used the tube ends were turned down to a interference fit pressed in alignment checked and welded, then rechecked no straightening was needed after welding.

1st run it made 230+ more mapping and swearing from steve over the cam duration and high compression went to a easy 250bhp and ended up at just under 270bhp with 185lb torque at 8400rpm, it was a still making power at even higher revs but was agreed not to push the engine any further than 8400rpm, well pleased with a engine that I built in the kitchen

At the moment a 46.5 Atlas is in the process of being built to replace the english and is nearly sorted
Hi, this is a reaaly clean & attention to detail example of what I would like to acheive. What was the engine spec? Thought I missed it but I went back through the thread you never gave the details... I'm curious.

    Re: MK1 Duratec

That is fantastic power Eric !!! I have built a very similar spec engine to yours but have had many people comment that the 12.5:1 compression ratio is way to high for the Kent DTEC35 cams and also I will not be able to run the motor on 95 octane gas without risking pre-ignition.

It is great to see your engine "proves them wrong" which is a great relief to me. I was wondering what your ignition advance setting are and if you have had any issues with the engine.

Well done again on a FANTASTIC Mk1 build, the car looks brilliant.

Just out of interest why did you use this combination of pistons and rods?
There’s a lot of options and brands out there I just wondered what your thoughts were?

I used the Manley rods because of good reviews and a good price, likewise with the Supertech piston. The 2.0 Ltr was stripped down last Xmas checked over with no problems all good to go again.

Okay, thanks. How often do you think it would need to be stripped and refreshed?

So where’s the details on the 2.4?!

All depends on the usage if it's a road car and not used on the track, no more than std maintenance required. if you do track days and run the std sump system then every year would be advisable. Use good oil and change the oil a minimum of every other track day.

I will sort the details of the 2.4 shortly

There are more future plans for the Mk1 but its all on hold due to a Mk2 build in progress. The 2.4 has much more torque than the 2.0 170lb, 240lb of torque for the 2.4

    Re: MK1 Duratec

Hopefully starting work again on the Mk1 in March as my son's mk2 should be a rolling shell by then, planned work for the mk1 is.......Turrets, wide 4 link kit decent coilovers, and adjustable watts tower, hopefully this will stop the mk1 trying to kill me when driven in anger.

Never had the pleasure of fitting a 4 link and Turrets should be a fun learning curve
