Few years back this article popped up on speed hunters and made me get on gumtree the same night. Have always loved escorts but never brought one when i was younger as parents advocated to save my money etc. Well im older now and had to front up a fair few more dollars and finally brought one.

    http://www.speedhunters.c...ler-racing-rs1800-bda/

I brought a in pieces mk2 2 door and proceeded to put it in my mums garage, and its sat there, for about 4 yrs now. In the mean time my evo blew up, got rebuilt and blew up again so once i was able to sort that mess out and move it on this beast popped up on gumtree.

Essentially body work had been done and put back together by a retired older guy, downsides were it ran pretty rough but drove and had a terrible vinyl interior in it. I snapped it up and proceeded to rip out the vinyl interior and have some recaro fishnets retrimmed to match the uk rs2000 spec seats, rear done to match also. Had the carby rebuilt by a mechanic and few small things done and she now drive like a dream.

Did a few improvements along the way - retrimmed a wheel in leather. Added some bilsteins, and rebuilt some 3 piece wheels.

Improved the inside after some setbacks but its come together really well, added a stereo that looks oem but has bluetooth, usb, sat nav handsfree etc

Got married and had my first child.

Got some new wheels, Took a while to find these in 4x108. Where my childhood dream wheels - remember an old bloke telling me once 'youll never afford wheels like this mate, dont even offer' when i spoke to him about them when i was 16.

Inspired by this thread i found randomly one night ive just upgraded the pedals in the car.

    http://craftomoto.com/custom-omp-ford-capri-pedals/

I actually reached out to the guy and he sent me some of the rubbers he made from Croatia. We did a trade for some gaskets he need for his turbo build as the australian supplier wouldnt post them.

Thats about it really, ive kept a more up to date thread on our Australian forum, ill pop the link below. Now i know how to upload photos ill try and keep both running.

    https://www.classic-ford.org/cfp/tm.aspx?m=87743

Plans for the future are fixing some damage a large pot hole caused on the front guard.

I got a gartrac pedal box that needs to be fitted, Unsure how i want to go with brakes. Ive been looking at Reylands alot and thinking a 277x25 with a CP5100 caliper might be a goer! In Aust we need dust seals on our calipers to met compliance. Which makes caliper selection a bit hard.

Rears maybe a disc set up or keep the drums. Not sure yet - or if the drums would work with the upgraded rear.

    Parting shot

Been thinking about a brake upgrade for a while now! I really dont like the feel of booster, it feels sloppy and when in the hills just feels worse and worseas things heat.

Ive purchased a Gartrac pedal box as a start

Mate had some APs he let me fiddle with but unfortunately someone else snapped them up before i could commit to them. Seem a change to some ali calipers nets a good weight saving. Also with the Laws in Aust i need to run calipers with dust seals. This puts alot of uk kits out.

I discovered the reyland website and have been heavily leaning towards a custom AP racing CP5100 caliper with 277x25mm disc. How would this fare with rear drums or best to upgrade to a disc rear also? Im not sure.

anyway few shots from my car parked with my childhood dream car! transam baby!
