    Bufty Cars

It was the Finals of the Auto Glym bufty championship, or something like that. Most of the cars you needed sunglases to look at.

It was nice to see some everyday cars on display (get a bit fed up looking at Healey's and MG's).

There was a Mk 1 Cortina there that had done 100k, and did 5k last year alone going to shows.

Great pics Dave! The second one takes me back. My Dad had a Lotus 47 in the red over white and gold. Absolutely class car, despite being broken most of the time I didn't care, meant I was able to sit in it and go Broom Broom (I was only 6) lol

Sounds like your into them a fair bit?
Sure it wasnt a baby elan sprint
Yes very sure mate ... They we're the first car to have impregnated fibreglass(I think) and it wasn't painted as far as I can remember!
He also had Colin Chapman's Super 7(The only Holby Model) He sold it when I could just about reach the pedals!

    Re: Bufty Cars

Just did some searching on the net. It looks like it might have been a 47GT but I can't remember if it had the twin cam engine. I'll ask him tonight when I'm diggin out the photos... I think he sold it in about 1980...long time ago now.. the guy who bought it raced it.
So basically I need to ask him if it wasn't painted and had a twin cam. If not it's only a Europa...still a fantastic car. Do you know if the bodyshells are still produced. I seem to remember someone getting hold of the moulds and making some copies?

    Re: Bufty Cars

Yea im mainly into it because of my dads puprple one you seen. They all have a gelcoat on em which is then painted as far as i know mate Yea stick them pics up would be nice to see another one Not too sure about the bodyshells..i know you can buy new +2 shells so there is always the possibility, but i have heard that they are not very accurate and need a bit of cutting to fit If you want a shell then mick miller is your man...he died a few months back, but i went up to his workshop and OMG the standard of the cars he restored was mad. For £14k you could have had a fully restored baby elan He also had a europa "special" that he had made a wide arch kit for, non popup headlights, 15" superlites...and an elise back end He had about 60 lotus' in various states from complete to just shells kicking about His wife is still carrying on the parts side so i dont see why you shoulfdt be able to get a shell from her. Tis a shame the bloke had no kids as he has nobody to carry on the business of restoring that would be me dream job
